A chance to compare...

Today I had the chance to have a photo taken in exactly the same place as one of my "before" pictures had been taken. You know how it goes--for years and years you don't let anyone take pictures of you, until you get a surgery date and suddenly realize you won't have any pictures to prove you did it.

So last summer, at a birthday party for a cousin's child, I had someone take this picture of me and my girls (imagine trying to cross those legs!):

And today we attended the same birthday party, so I gathered my young 'uns around and we took this:

And one more, because he doesn't get NEARLY enough props from me, here is one of me and my darling rock of Gibraltar, Michael:

You certainly do NOT look 250ish. What a beautiful family.... what are the ages of your girls? I have a 8, 3 & 1 yr olds.

How in the world do we have a weight problem with young kids?????? :guess

What a beautiful family you have Alex. You look fabulous. It feels good to cross those legs doesn't it. That is my favorite thing to do right now that I wasn't able to do before.

My girls are 3 and 5 (will be 6 in Sept.). They sure do keep us hopping, don't they?!!!

Thanks for the nice words, everyone. I think I'm FINALLY seeing a difference in photos, too. I have reverse body dysmorphia, I think; I look better in the mirror to myself than I do in photographs. But I'm not complaining! :)

Hi Alexandra

You look great. Sure, I agree with everyone else - your kids are beautiful, your husband is cute, your face looks great.... But more importantly - YOU LOOK GREAT. Congratulations on the weight loss. And the "comfort" in having your photo taken and posted! Keep it up.

Mary

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
