Can we talk bras

Recommended Posts

Lord have mercy my boobs are like slinkies or something. They are sagging, literally a few inches from my belly button and are so "wobbly." I have gone down quite a bit but am still wearing a D cup but because of the loss of breast tissue or whatever they are so pliable. Really like a slinky. I kind of mold them into the bra but they just don't sit right, they spill this way or that way and are still saggy.

What bra have you found to be really supportive and uplifting? I don't know that I will ever have the money or truly make the plunge to get a breast lift, so my bra is my first line of defense.

Suggestions?

Unfortunately, I completely understand what you're going through! I would suggest spending a little extra money to be custom fitted by a professional. It's amazing what they can do for the girls!

I am having the same problem! So far, I am finding the Emma Bra by Soma to work pretty good. Not the cheapest, but they do go on sale from time to time.

I agree with the custom fitting. I really like Wacoal and mine have to be underwire. Sometimes you are better off to go down a band size and up a cup size for a better fit. A good professional will know what to do. I buy so it fits on the loosest hook and then as you lose more weight and the bra stretches out, you can tighten to the 2nd and 3rd hook and get a bit more wear out of it. While in weight loss mode, I only really buy 2 bras at a time and keep washing them. When I get to goal I will have a lot more than that, but as expensive as a good bra is, it doesn't make sense bc you have to get refitted so often.

I have a bali minimizer, works wonders. My band size has gone down 6 inches but the cup is still DDD.

You don't always have to spend extra money to be fitted... We have an AWESOME sales girl at the Nordstroms in the mall by me and they will fit you for a bra for no charge at all... Check places like Victoria Secret, Macys, Nordsroms... Any more upscale dept store or lingerie store should fit you for free!

I can't wait to buy the cute bras.. You know the ones that have matching underwear.. Or to go into VS and actually be able to buy something instead of them having to order it

Lane Bryant is the only place I've bought bras (except sports bras) in years! They will fit you for free and they have varying levels of coverage, support and padding depending on what you're looking for. I've gone from a 48DDD to a 40F and can't find anything else as supportive. I have a lot of "side boob" or excess skin under my arms. I have found some there that are full coverage and go high enough under my armpits so I'm not spilling out anywhere.

Btw, right they have the semi-annual sale going on that is buy 2 get 2 free but I think it only goes a few more days.

My girls best days are in the past. I guess they look like 42-year old Mom boobs.

Dreaming if plastic surgery. Making due with push-up bras

I went to Lane Bryant...they fitted me to a 40DDD in a convertible bra (I think that was what it was called) - it lifts my boobs and supports them...I look so much smaller in shirts now when I wear that bra...I had been wearing like Playtex/Just My Size, Walmart crap, bras or just any kind of bra from anywhere inexpensive pretty much in 44C...I mean, my boobs are not big at all & they have always been saggy - even when I was skinny and didn't really have to even wear a bra....so when she first measured me and brought me that bra size...I laughed, but I couldn't believe it fit...and gave me such lift/cleavage! lol Best of luck to all of us with our boobies, our hair, our skin and all else!!!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
