I’m new on this board. My insurance requires that I take 6 consecutive months of nutrition classes. My question is after the 6th how long would be for the surgery?

My final nutrition appointment was at the end of May and I had surgery 7/8. There was a slight delay from the psych provider to submit her report. It all worked out timing wise for me though. Good luck to you!!

I didn't to do six months dieting (perhaps its because I did a year of it on my own free will prior to starting the process for surgery.) but I have been jumping through hoops and going to doctors since Jan.. And I still don't have a surgery date.. I was approved with insurance 6-21..

I am on month 5 of six months diet with my PCP per insurance requirement. I go to see her tomorrow for month 5 and then again in August for the final month. I hope everything will be sent to insurance the same day. I am hoping to get surgery in early Oct.

While doing nutritian classes, you'll likely need to see some specialists and get some tests. Once all are done it'll likely be pretty fast (for approval). Surgery time depends on your MDs schedule...

But you can learn a LOT in the six months that WILL help you after!

After my last NUT appointment was done, it took 2 weeks to get approved, and I was able to get a surgery date just 20 days after that.............My doctor's office said usually they book 4 weeks out....guess I caught a little break...good luck! Those 6 months will be up before you know it. Good luck!

I know times goes fast as make plans and anxiously wait for your new life: The first week of September I will complete the 6 moths. I'm trying to coordinate the time off from work.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
