jjmama21 1 Posted July 18, 2013 I’m new on this board. My insurance requires that I take 6 consecutive months of nutrition classes. My question is after the 6th how long would be for the surgery?
hopingtolose2013 81 Posted July 18, 2013 I was approved same day as paperwork was sent. Then it just depends on your dr schedule. I was 2.5 weeks.
lorrieann1 49 Posted July 18, 2013 My final nutrition appointment was at the end of May and I had surgery 7/8. There was a slight delay from the psych provider to submit her report. It all worked out timing wise for me though. Good luck to you!!
NotLookinBack 164 Posted July 18, 2013 I didn't to do six months dieting (perhaps its because I did a year of it on my own free will prior to starting the process for surgery.) but I have been jumping through hoops and going to doctors since Jan.. And I still don't have a surgery date.. I was approved with insurance 6-21..
Cajunlady12 49 Posted July 18, 2013 I am on month 5 of six months diet with my PCP per insurance requirement. I go to see her tomorrow for month 5 and then again in August for the final month. I hope everything will be sent to insurance the same day. I am hoping to get surgery in early Oct.
Arts137 1,811 Posted July 18, 2013 While doing nutritian classes, you'll likely need to see some specialists and get some tests. Once all are done it'll likely be pretty fast (for approval). Surgery time depends on your MDs schedule... But you can learn a LOT in the six months that WILL help you after!

PGee 318 Posted July 18, 2013 After my last NUT appointment was done, it took 2 weeks to get approved, and I was able to get a surgery date just 20 days after that.............My doctor's office said usually they book 4 weeks out....guess I caught a little break...good luck! Those 6 months will be up before you know it. Good luck!
