Recommended Posts

Hey loves,

I am able to eat any type of Protein as long as it (moist)- hate that word, haha!

All I can think of is tuna in those packets- mixing an oil rosemary dressing

Bringing Protein powder and shaker but need more ideas.

Please help me I don't want to be buying out 3 meals a day. I want to buy dinner and thats really it. My stomach can fit such little food I don't want to spend money on wasted food.

No MINI BAR/ Fridge at inn... what the f**k!

You can buy little cans or packets of salmon, sardines, herring, trout, oysters, crab, shrimp, octopus -- all sorts of seafood! And there are pouches of chicken and turkey as well.

Is it possible to bring or pick up an inexpensive foam cooler or even a soft sided collapsible one?...keep a few things in it with ice in your room? The foam coolers keeps the ice much better and typically doesn't leak.

I have a small soft sided insulated tote.....got it at a grocery store last month and it's cute.....I bring it to the office with my refrigerated RTD Protein shakes, have my wallet/phone in the outer pocket, and everyone assumes it's a purse, and it comes in different sizes, and there are some that just look like a tote bag.

<gag> Little known fact about me, often exploited by my baby brother...I hate that word, too. ;)

Beef or turkey Jerky isn't too dry for my tummy, not sure if you've tried that yet. I would probably be bringing a little insulated cooler/lunch bag with me for cottage cheese in individual cups, string cheese, that kind of thing. Or ask the hotel if there's some way you can get access to a fridge, as you have special dietary needs.

I like the Starkist lunch to Go packs with low fat mayo and relish packets. It comes with a "bowl" and spoon, I toss the crackers.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
