Just curious...questions for those who have been doing the5:2way

Recommended Posts

I am new to the 5:2 group and haven't even started it yet. I actually started Monday being really strict on low carbs/ increasing my Protein, Water water water & logging along with excercise(yes I know...all the things I should have been doing all along;) ...and when i weighed tonight so far have lost 4.5lbs since Monday ...so i may stick with this and see where it takes me for a bit and see if my loss continues to be good for a while...but i definitely see 5:2 in my future...was wanting some feedback from y'all as to how long you've been doing 5:2 and how much weight loss you have seen thus far with it? Are you exercising as you do it? How much Fluid intake are you taking in especially on the fast days? Thanks for the info!

I tried to contact you via pm. But perhaps you didn't see it?

Welcome, to the 5:2 group. We consist of members that are at least a year out and almost at goal or have reached goal and put on a few pounds while in maintenance. we are not trying to exclude anyone, but this method is not for the newly sleeved. Please talk to your nutritionist and try the diet first to see if its something you can do. Then if you want to make a commitment to it, send us a message and you'll be invited in.

It sounds like your new direction is working out well for you. If you decide to try 5:2 at a later date let us know and you can join again.

I am not sure that you dedicated yourself to eating the 5:2 way, before asking to join our group.

There are links that explain the diet fully, that you need to read so you can decide if this is right for you. The 5:2 thread also has a lot of information about when people started . In that thread, we decided to form this group of people who were

already eating this way.

I suggest you do it for at least 2 weeks, and send one of us a private message and tell us that you've tried it and are committed and would like to re-join the group.

Sorry Lovin' and 5:2 girls, I feel like an A$$. I approved her application without her meeting all the criteria. I think she is good to go in every other way, but 5:2 is the point of this group, so point well taken. K

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
