Self pay sleevers: BMI of 30 or close

Recommended Posts

I hit "normal“ weight about a month ago and I did a little scale dance lol! Then I worried "o no will I go back up" I always think "is this for real" so silly I know but my mind hasnt caught up with my skinny body yet

I can so relate to this from my ups and downs. I am sure I'll feel this way when I lose weight.

Hey all! I had my sleeve done in Dallas about 3 weeks ago. I had a complication. The surgeon damaged part my spleen and I was in the hospital for 5 days. I'm 100% better now. Surgery was totally worth it, even with the complication.

Just weighed today and I am 159. Goal #1 is 140 Goal #2 130 ultimate goal weight # 120.

Congrats tripletmom! I was also 30 BMI ... 3+ months out I'm so happy I've had it done, I have only lost 30lbs but I'm eating much healthier. Good luck on your journey x

I think us who were heavier may feel that surgery is the last resort and we don't wish it on anyone unless t is needed. That being said it is a tool and if you have tried everything else then more power to you. I hope you lose all the weight you need to and keep it off. I was larger but had some small Heath problems that would have become much larger if I didn't get the weight off. It's the I have to lose weight vs I have to lose a lot of weight syndrome. More power to us all!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
