My boyfriend and I each have the FitBit One - we love them! I had mine since before surgery, however, and it was very helpful in keeping track of my calories burned so that I could have a deficit in my calorie intake. Post-op, that part isn't necessarily helpful (I'm not eating anywhere NEAR enough to be concerned with a calorie deficit), but I still appreciate knowing how many steps I've taken, floors I've climbed, etc. - it keeps me motivated and moving! It's also neat to see my sleep cycle and how much "true" sleep I get!

I also own a bodybugg, but switched to the FitBit because it (a) has no monthly subscription cost and (B) syncs with MyFitnessPal - bodybugg has a horribly lacking food database.

I love my fitbit one! Although I wish I had known about the Bracelet coming out. Anyway, I love it because it logs all my walking and I don't have to think about it. I also bought the aria scale so I can keep track of my weight. You can both use it and it can tell you apart.

Ive been syncing them with myfitnesspal, but I kind of like the fitbit site better.

On the advise of my NUT I purchased a FitBit One right after surgery, and wear it every day. It absolutely keeps me motivated. I work long hours at my desk and I can track my steps with it. On a day where I get below my goal, I hit the ellpitcal for a few extra minutes. Watch Amazon & ebay, sometimes you can get a good deal.

Their customer service is above and beyond. I lost my fitbit while out one day... they replaced it for free. I couldn't belive it. I also once left it on my clothes and washed and dried it, it worked perfectly afterward. I love that it syncs up with myfitnesspal also.

I have a fitbit flex (bracelet).

I like that it works with myfitnesspal, which I've used off and on for over a year now.

It can motivate me and it's very useful to be able to see how close to 10,000 steps I am throughout the day.

I can't figure out how accurate it is because it hit the 10k steps mark one day, late in the evening while I was rocking in my lazy-boy type chair and hadn't been walking for a while.

I can't decide how useful the sleep tracking is, but then I've never had problems sleeping. This might be useful to others.

I don't like that it doesn't have a heart-rate monitor built in somehow.

It would be great if they could make one that could be worn in the Bracelet form or clipped into clothes. I think it tracks about the same if I pull it out of the bracelet band and put it in my bra.

It's run out of power twice on me with no obvious warning. For some reason, I think there's supposed to be some sort of warning and maybe I just don't' know what the warning is!

If it had the heart rate monitor I'd be much more excited about it. I do wear it consistently.

I'd hoped it would motivate me to get back to exercising more, but that hasn't panned out yet!

You need a pretty new cell phone or iPad for one of those devices to sync for you. I have an iPhone 4 and so I'm stuck syncing whit the USB device that comes with it. That's a little irritating but again, my issue for having older devices.

If this type of tracking is new for you, it can be fun and motivational.

There is another new one out, or coming out with an altimeter that's a clip-on. Still no heart rate monitor though.

I use the fit bit clip on one. It is a good way to track but like everything it can be skewed. I have had it in my purse and it tracked the motion. I have body bug also which I loved but the monthly subscription made me change to fit bit. I can't figure a way to break my calorie burn down by hour (to see what I burned at a specific time of day) and I would like to track my calorie burn during certain exercise classes. Body buff was more exact and recorded everything and you could break your day down. Over all it is worth it though.

They have them in stock on bestbuy.com. I just got mine yesterday. I was about 1,000 steps from 10K so it motivated me to go for a walk. I like it so far.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
