Fat girl in a little coat (a la Tommy Boy)!

Recommended Posts

Who would have thunk it? I have some pretty sexy toes. I went for a salt scrub, massage, pedicure and manicure yesterday (trying to get ready for surgery). Not sure how much dry skin I had but I pulled up a pair of Cotton Ginny Petite jeans, size 18 without undoing the button or zipper this am. Sheesh, that's a lot of reptiliousnessnessness. I can see my toes no problem. Too bad I have to take the polish off before surgery...I was hoping to reel in a rich Dr. with my feet. Now I'm gonna have to adjust my pole dancing to work with my IV pole. Not quite as sexy but worth a try.:clap2: Hercules! Hercules! Hercules!

My blood test came back with elevated WBC, I don't feel sick so I hope nothing is brewing. I have broken out with quite a few zits...could that cause an elevated WBC?:sick

I was expecting to hear about you trying on a small jacket or something! Talk about misleading. I don't wanna hear about your sexy toes!!! BOOOO!

Anyways, I don't know what that means... if it's elevated. I was gonna ask what WBC was, then I figured it out. Who told you it was elevated, and why didn't THEY tell you if it was a bad thing or not? Hmmmm?

So many things can elevate your WBCs or as us Canadians say Leucocyte count. All that changed when we went to SI (System International) so it's no longer White Blood Cell Count, it's Leucocyte count. And yes breaking out can actually elevate it but so could so many other things. Unless you are experiencing symptoms, not much to worry about.

Thanks Louise!

I have to go for another blood test tomorrow am. I guess this time the requesition asks for some sort of breakdown related to the WBC-she said this will tell her if it's bacterial or viral. I feel like I have a bladder infection but my u/a was normal/negative so they are going to test that again too. I'll know more tomorrow, I guess.

Argon...do you know the "fat guy in a little coat" part in that movie? Loved it, so I made it my own. Please Celebrate with me in the fact that I can see my toes. Don't be repulsed.

Mookie, the "breakdown" your doc asked for is called a differential. Your blood smear will be looked at under a microscope and your white cells will be differentiated according to the types of cells they are. An increase in lymphocytes would indicate a viral infection.

wink, wink Wheezy...hehehe, I actually feel smart sometimes!

Fat guy in a liitle coat is the story of my life, whether it be a scout uniform, band uniform, basketball uniform. I guess that is why I liked football so much, except for the tight white pants.

Anyway, hope you and your sexy toes are alright.

Andrew

Wheezy, your sooo smart!!!

I also had a elevated WBC count in my pre-op (probably the massive kidney infection that was brewing in my body for the past year!!!) Anyway, my doc put me on antibiotics as a precaution because of the surgery. She said it was no biggie, so did Dr. C.

BTW, I think your lucky you can see your sexy toes. That would have been a struggle for me prior to surgery, lol!

Did I read that post correctly. Your size 18 pants are too big?

And you are having lap band surgery? You are not post-op?

She *could* be like, 4'5". (which I don't think she is, BUT... people get banded at lower sizes than 18)

anyways, Mookie.... I think it is a fabulous, wonderous, amazing thing to see your feet. BUT... am I missing something? How is that like 'fat guy in a little coat"?! Were you wearing kids sandals?

I'm actually 3 apples high..like a smurf.

I attribute my loss to the pre-op diet. I carry almost all my weight around the middle and I guess that's where I'll lose it first. I wouldn't swear that its gone for good so therefore I'm celebrating seeing my toes while I can.

Last time I wore those jeans, I danced around singing "fat girl in a little coat!" while they hung there below my gut. So no, Argo there is no way anyone could have made the connection. Sometimes I do and say stuff that only "I" find funny which leaves others to think "that girl is funny" and not in a Ha Ha kind of way. I tend to fly solo over the Koo Koo's nest.

Hey Mookie, I got a call from Dr.Cobourn today. He's going to be training a doc in St.Albert on the 27th of Jan and wanted to know if I could make it to meet him and other bandsters in the area. Did you get such a call? You are having surgery with Dr. Cobourn right? I think I'm gonna go check it out.

The pre op sucks more than you can ever imagine. I didn't want to write that b/c I was trying to keep you guys from knowing the truth. I have cheated a few times..not gonna lie. I've also been eating pickles up the wazzoo-they ok'd that. I've also been downing bottles of sparkling Water (which I love) and I'm going to miss like crazy after the surgery. I tend to always have an upset stomach and the fizzy Water helps.

I went for my bloods and u/a today. Hope all goes well with that. Could the massage (she worked on some pretty good knots in my lower back-I have the bruises to prove it)have caused the increase in my WBC count?

Nope no call. But I'll see him next week, maybe he's planning on telling me then. Great, I'm in St. Albert! I'll go for sure, wanna go for coffee/tea after? I'll show you my gut and you can oohh and ahh over it.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
