Hello I'm a month out and I've never shopped for food yet. I've had chicken and fish and haven't tried any other meats. What kinds of things should I be buying? Including fruits and veggies and what foods would also help move my Bowels along, they are at a stand still.

Meatballs, sausage, deli meat, cheese sticks, fish.fruit and veggies are hard at 1 month but maybe bananas, peeled apples.

That's a big problem for most people when they are first sleeved. You won't be able to get enough Fiber so you should just take Miralax for a few days.

At one month, you should only be eating soft fruit like canned fruit, refried Beans with melted cheese and sour cream is good, egg salad. tuna salad, hamburger meat crumbled up like chili, cottage cheese, and there is a good recipe in the food forum for a ricotta bake that's good.

I am 9 months out and still need the help of miralax or colace weekly :( Constipation is definitely an issue for a lot of WLS patients.

food ideas.....cold cuts, cheese sticks, eggs, Greek yogurt, sugar free pudding, avocado, ricotta cheese, hummus, edamame, spinach (make egg/spinach/cheese cups), portobello mushroom (portobello mushroom pizza or cordon bleu) (use the mushroom in place of the crust for the pizza and chicken for the cordon bleu)

Perdue Shortcuts are AWESOME! They are already cooked chicken pieces and are great for a snack/lunch. I put them in a Fiber One Wrap or a low carb wrap 1/2 cup chicken, 1 ounce cheese and salsa and makes a great quesadilla. Now you are only 1 month out so you won't be able to eat all that, you could get two or three meals out of that, but so yummy!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
