DorothyGale 8 Posted July 16, 2013 This time tomorrow I will be sleeved... surgery at 7 a.m. I am surprisingly calm and have packed everything I might need. Now, just scared, maybe of the pain, maybe that something will go wrong. I just need some words of encouragement from those of you who have been through it. Thanks in advance. I promise to pay it forward to someone else when the time comes! 1 Jeanie S reacted to this
shielanotsheila 15 Posted July 16, 2013 You will do great. Honestly the pain isn't too bad and I had a conversion from a lapband to a sleeve. I thought getting the lapband was more painful. The only hard part is dealing with head hunger after surgery and not being able to eat solids. You will get through it. Complications are really low as long as you follow your doctor's orders. Richard Foor 655 Posted July 16, 2013 What you are feeling right now is perfectly normal, everyone goes through it to some level right before their surgery. You are about to undergo a major change to your life and that is frightening. The best advice is to focus on the reasons you chose to do this. The Journey isn't always easy, but it is worth it and it gets easier as time goes by. Good Luck.
futureloser 190 Posted July 16, 2013 Normal to be scared but I was too excited to be scared. Just remember that you have been waiting for this day. It will go quickly although you may not sleep tonight. I spent the day before reading everything I had from my doctor- I have a manual that outlines everything. I went on this website and read everything I could and then.. I just knew it would be ok. I had no pain afterwards, no nausea. Piece of cake!
Slim Lola Slim 6 Posted July 16, 2013 Haven't been sleeved yet and I share those same concerns. I know there will be pain and some adjustments to be made, but I do know also it's temporary. You will do great! Stay positive and think if all the things you want to do that the weight has stood in the way of. Look forward to better health and new successes :-D
Arts137 1,811 Posted July 16, 2013 I had little pain (and the hospital paim meds took care of it). When home I could stop the 'discomfort' meds easily after 2/3 days. No nausea or vomiting except for one time when I was stupid. All in all just hunkie dorey...
