Thank you all for the well wishes. Everything went well. He did find a hiatal hernia that the gastro Dr didn't see and it was repaired. It seems very strange to think that I am now on the other side of this. So glad its done and over and I can focus on mending.

That could even be from pain meds if they use narcotics. When I've had narcotics after other surgeries, my blood pressure has dropped!

So glad you're on the other side!! Welcome!! :) Hope you back up and hitting the ground running soon!!!! Congratulations!! ????

The lower BP is usually due to the anesthesia and the pain meds. My surgeon repairs hiatal hernias in about 90 percent of his bariatric surgery patient, so it is very common. My recovery from both procedures went very smoothly. Hoping the same for you!!

I already tolerate the small incisions very well. They don't really bother me much. What does bother me is the larger left side incision. When i'm walking it feels like its pulling down on the stitch. I asked for an abdominal band for support but they only had very large ones. I may wrap myself with an Ace bandage today and see whether that helps.

A other thing is the sipping. i do sip very tiny bits but i think I'm swallowing air. Burping the air out is proving to be difficult.

I also had a hernia that was repaired. I'm in the same situation as yo, my small incisions don't bother me at all my larger one on the left side is killing me! Every time I try to sit up or turn it has a burning sensation. I also have trouble with sipping I keep getting more air! I had the worse time with the gas and am still dealing with that. So, getting a little bit of air when I sip, bis not exactly comfortable! Hopefully by this weekend we'll all feel better!

how did it go?!

I have some pain on the left side that everyone spoke about here. No pain anywhere else though. In the hospital i had a tiny bit of nausea but a shot of something in my IV stopped it. I would definitely do it again. Now to loose the 7 lbs of Water weight the IV put on me.

I'm struggling to get Protein in. The idea of a shake does make me feel queazy. For right now i am mixing Isopure Protein Water with SF tang. I broke down and ordered the crystal protein and i'll use that when it arrives. Still no hunger and no temptation when the family eats.

Did you try putting a Gas-X strip on your tongue? I had the rumbling in my stomach but not in my intestines. I used Gas-X and it took are of it instantly.

Where do you get the strips? I've looked everywhere and can't find them.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
