Welcome, Jane. I can understand the need to get "another 5" off. Having lost all but 5 of regain I am trying also to lose that 5 and another hopefully.

I used to really growl (internally) at people who would say "oh! I know what you mean. I need to lose some weight too! At least 5 POUNDS!" LOL. I would think to myself, "I could lose five pounds in my sleep!" Now I AM That person. Ha!

Isn't as easy on this side of the scale line! But, BOY, aren't we all happy campers to be on THIS SIDE of the weight battle with only a few pounds to go or having reached goal!?

Keep calling me Jane, doesn't bother me in the least.

Besides the fact that I thought it sounded good for an anon name, Jane has another significance for me. My brothers wife is named Jane and she just has this confident, lean, healthy athletic body and was a person i wanted to emulate. She is in her 60s,, but seems younger then many 40 year olds due to a lifetime of good, but not radical, health habits.

Thanks for the bump, Laura. I just went through and read everyone's introductions.

Hi everyone. I'm excited to join all of you! I started 5:2 3 weeks ago and so far I really like it. I'll tell you a little about myself. My name is Sarah. I actually grew up thin although I did have issues with anorexia in my teens/early twenties. I didn't become obese until after I got married. In the first year we were married I gained over 80 pounds. Not sure why, he's a great guy, we are still married so it had nothing to do with being in a bad relationship. I did find out years later that I had thyroid issues so maybe that's when those problems began. Through the years I continued to gain weight. I didn't gain much when I had my kids because I was so sick that I actually lost weight.

I hated being fat, it made me depressed. It was really hard for me because I was had never been fat before so I knew what it was like to be skinny and I wanted to be back there so bad. (No, I was not healthy when I was skinny and I know that now.) I'm not sure when I started looking into WLS. Many, many years ago my dad had his stomach stapled, back when it first came out. He has had a lot of issues with that surgery. All of my side of the family has weight problems. Anyway, I had looked into surgery but my insurance didn't cover it. Years later, after dieting and only losing 20 or 30 pounds and then gaining it all back plus more, my husband's insurance changed and I decided to look into surgery again. This time insurance covered it.(I ended up having surgery in Mexico but that's another story.) I had spent the last few years before this working out, dealing with my emotional issues and learning to eat healthy so I felt that I had given it my all when I decided to have surgery and for me this was the last resort. I wanted to be healthy. I wanted what I felt on the inside to show on the outside. I wanted to be me again. Almost 2.5 years ago I had surgery. I lost about 110 pounds within 1.5 years and then my body stopped losing. I was very comfortable where I was at and was happy and content. A never had a goal weight, I just figured when I was comfortable that is where I would stop. A few months ago I started looking at myself and wondering if could lose more. I looked deep inside and realized that I am still holding on to some of this weight because of some emotional issues. The same issues that I became obese in the first place. I have finally decided that I am going to finish what I started and shed all of this weight and not cover up anymore!

I have been reading about all the success with 5:2 and decided to give it a try. So far I really like it. I'm not sure how much more I want to lose. At least 10 pounds...maybe more. I'll see where this leads!

Welcome! It's a great way for maintenance, because a lot of use found out, it's easy to re-gain when you think you're in maintenance.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
