The sleeve means removing about 80% of your stomach leaving a smaller stomach in the shape & size of a banana.

Bypass leaves the stomach the size of an egg and reroutes parts of the small intestine. The large part of the stomach is not removed. It is left inside the body.

The sleeve is restrictive. The bypass is restrictive and malabsorptive.

It depends on what is right for the individu patient

Darn phone app. Was gonna say it depends on the individual patient's needs. People who need to lose 200-300+ lbs may not lose all the weight they'd need to with the sleeve. A lot of surgeons will do a two step surgical intervention, first the sleeve then bypass.
