Sleeve with a baby

Recommended Posts

My surgery is set for August 14th and I have a 9 month old (will be 10 months around surgery) my mom will be flying up but can only stay for one week, anyone else have a child this age and when were you able to lift and take care of them again?

My baby is 9 months yesterday, and I was sleeved 3 weeks ago. I've had no problems taking care of him. The first few days I had my husband doing most of the lifting and holding, but I did some. I could have done it all, had I needed to. Good luck!

I was sleeved on 6/25. My baby is 15 months old and 21 pounds. My surgeon said that I should not be in charge of him on my own for at least 1 week post op, but after that I could take care of him myself and just to try and limit lifting him.

I had my gall bladder out in November, and I had a hard time lifting him for about 2 weeks post op then when he was 16 pounds, so I knew I should have help longer than my surgeon recommended. I've had varying levels of help since surgery and I am very thankful because the 2 times I have picked him up post op it's been pretty painful. You may be just fine, but you might want to try and arrange for more help just in case.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
