This question is for the older sleevers. Is taking off 2 weeks from your employment enough time for you and your body? Are you really ready to go back after only a couple of weeks? I am not quite sure how long I should take off. Thanks for any input you can give me. I was sleeved on July 8th, so it will be a week tomorrow and I am still not sure I am getting enough liquids.< /p>

It depends on how your body is recovering and what type of job you do. I had a heavy Lifting type job and took off 6 weeks. Wishing you speedy recovery.

Good luck

My doc told me I'd be ok to go back after 2 weeks. However, she suggested 4-5 weeks if I had the time. Said it would give me time to build up stamina, adjust to food stages & adjust my schedule to add in exercise. While I didn't think I needed 5 weeks, I took 5 weeks and was glad that I did. At 4 weeks post op I was still struggling with taking showers due to lack of energy & sleep pattern was still off. By the 5th week, I was much, much better.

I took 2 weeks off which was fine for my job. I work in a Drs office. Probably 60/40 desk/running around but work 12 hr shifts.

I'm glad I had 2 weeks off but could have gone back a couple of days earlier.

What's "older"? I'm 50 and had surgery 3 1/2 months ago. I'm a stay at home mom of kids ages 1,2,5&7 and had to resume my mommy duties 6 days after surgery. It was fine, but getting in my liquids was a challenge. I had my 7 year old lift the baby for diaper changes and gettig into the crib.

I am also July 8th and luckily a teacher; however in the summer I do clean changeovers....I can't imagine going back. I am still in pain, def struggling with Vitamins and liquid, and just plain old miserable!! If you have the time don't kill yourself......although I did just tell a friend I would take her kids once a week!!! Lol....

I'm 2 weeks post op tomorrow and took 3 weeks off. I'm glad I did (planned in the beginning to take only 2). It would be a bit of a struggle going back to work tomorrow. I get tired easily still and I'm still trying to get on a good schedule with eating, Vitamins, walking, etc. I'm really glad I have another week.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
