That seems odd that only the one flavor/brand is allowed- did they say why that was? I was allowed any kind of Protein Powder or shake as long as it was under 5 carbs per serving. I would call their office tomorrow morning and question why you can have only that one flavor/brand, and tell them you can't get it down and need to try something else.

My surgeons really odd. Out of the 3 surgeons in the practice he's the only one that does a long liquid diet before and after and the thing with the Protein. Like stage 2 only protein I get is the eas shakes from Walmart

Try the bananna creame from GNC, that is my favorite. When I was first sleeved I hated Protein and my doctor said not to worry about it it will come in time. I was able to actually tolerate it at about a month out. I would try different kind of Proteins so that you can find some that you can tolerate. Some of the companies offer samples so that you can try them before you buy a large amount of something that you will hate later. Good luck.

The first two weeks my surgeon didnt focus on Protein .. It's about getting your liquids in and staying hydrated .. Try at two weeks out you kno sometime you have to take a step back or step forward in this process because of what your body tells you I think you should try that and see how it goes with protein

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
