I had surgery Monday the 8th and I have to be on Clear Liquids until Thursday , that's a week and 3 days ... I'm going insane . Then ill probably be on full liquids for another week . How come people are already having puréed food before even a week post op . I'm so jealous . It's making me depressed and I even cried over it .. I think the liquids are getting to my head . Needed to vent

It all depends on your Dr. and how he/she sets things up......

I was on liquids for 22 weeks before my surgery and never cheated...Then I was on liquids after surgery for 5 days before I ended up in the hospital due to complications with the sleeve......

I did not eat anything for 5 1/2 months in total.......

Think of why you are on liquids...and what it did for your liver and how your sleeve needs to heal first before you can add other types of food to it.....

Sorry...Thought you might feel better knowing that someone else had it far worse then you!!!!!!

:)

You are doing great! A lot of us did it exactly the same way as you. :) this is a time to let your stomach heal and you are doing the right thing by following your doctors orders.

I know when you see others that get released to food early, either through their doctors or because they just want to, is hard to see :(

But have faith and trust in your plan :)

Idk why is cares so much about the diet if he didnt care about me dieting before or me quitting smoking before and after cause he still allows that . It just doesn't make sense to me

Quite honestly I'm surprised he didn't care about you not smoking! :(

That is going to make healing a bit of a longer process...

As for no pre op diet? There are lots of factors for that. So some people need to others don't.

The one thing I will say I know it's hard and I know that the "need" for food at this stage is hard. Hang tough and it will be time before you know it!

Have you tried getting a broth based Soup from a take out place (like Chinese) ask for mostly broth and straining everything out?

It's more satisfying sometimes.

One thing I ate a lot of when I was on liquids was wonton soup- my hubby ate all the wontons, and I drank the broth. It just tasted so good to me- way better than anything from a can.

Hang in there- it really does get better! Follow your doctors plan and you will be eating before you know it.

Hang in there! I was right there with you just a week ago. I cried watching my family eat Pasta while I was sucking on my Protein Shake. Just when I thought I couldn't do it anymore, I found myself some miso Soup mix, and then I cried from happiness. That really got me through the last few days of liquid diet. Your whole attitude will change as so as you get to the next stage!

I know my friends ate burgers and cheese fries in front of me as I sipped Gatorade . I wasn't even told to take Protein yet .. My doctor hasn't mentioned protein . And I'll look into that Soup !

Your doctor hasn't mentioned protein?!? That is pretty much the number one thing that has been told to me. I am still pre op, but everyone says get your protein in! That and Water to stay hydrated. Did you go to a nutritionist pre op? They should have explained it all to you.

Nope they told me I wasn't required to see a nutritionist pre op . And I'm now almost 6 days post op and still haven't been mentioned protein , all he said was clear liquid .

try a protien shake, it might feel more satisfying and give you more flavor. Hang in there it does get better each day. The liquid part is the worse, once your on soft food you will think you've died and gone to heaven:)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
