I'm new to this. I decided to have this surgery to help me loose weight and prevent high risk heart disease that runs in my family. My starting weight was 232.

I need some help with foods and Protein.currently I'm on liquids. But im still experiencing stomach cramps and nausea. My biggest fear is to dehydrate. Would some one please help me I need lis of support I have no clue if I'm doing the right thing.

Sometimes I wondered why I had this surgery

Hi Lambshop, you'll be fine. AND, you've come to the right place. Those that have had the surgery before you will assist.

I'm going to follow & take notes, for I'll need the support in August.

You had this surgery to create a better you. Be encouraged!

thank you so much. It was rough coming out of surgery had chest pain and didn't wake up fully till the next day.

Now I just need to figure out what I can eat. I have lots of food allergies so this is going to be challenging.

I am a July 8th'er also. I am doing well keeping liquids down, but I am afraid that I am not drinking enough. I am having 1/2 cup of broth and SF Jello, but still do not think I am taking in enough liquids. My doctor stressed Protein Shakes, but I have yet to find one that I can tolerate at this time. I am going to try the G2. Mornings are my toughest time. I feel the worse; not sure if it is because my stomach is empty, dehydrated, but it takes me a few hours to get myself going. Feeling pretty good otherwise.

My neighbor brought me tofu unflavor so what I have done this morning was get some fresh peaches peel the skin and put the recommended amount of tofu on a blender about 2 peaches one halve of banana a little fresh orange juice ice and splenda to taste and blend. the tofu doesn't have a flavor and I tolerated like a champ.

Felt full

That sounds good! Never thought of tofu. About how much tofu did you use?

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
