Has anyone tried this on the soft puréed stage? I just licked some off a spoon and it tasted heavenly! I would assume it's ok as long as you are not eating it by the spoonful! Thoughts?

I never had it prior to reaching goal, and on the liquid pureed stage, I could have nothing that wouldn't go through a straw....since I am in maintenence I have a measured amount now. I am not sure it is going to "hurt" you, it may not cause a leak, but Peanut Butter is HIGH, HIGH, HIGH in calories. 100 calories per tablespoon. It is NOT a good choice, at least I would say it is not. I mean, sure, between it and a Twinkie, it will win hands down, but I'd think twice. Remember this, "Just because you CAN, doesn't mean you SHOULD" Now is your honeymoon period, make the most of it and develop self control and good habits that you will have to adhere to for the rest of your life.

Peanut Butter in small amounts (no more than 2 T.) is recommended for my puree stage, as long as it fits within my calorie budget for the day. Only creamy peanut butter though!

I agree with both comments above. It is high in calories so you have to make sure it is in your quota for the day. :)

I'm not even close to getting my required calories in, so that's why I thought it may be a good idea for me right now.

I have Peanut Butter once in while. It's a good source of MUSF and OK in moderation within your calorie budget.

pre-surgery weight 325; surgery date 2/28/2013; surgery weight 307; 8 weeks past-op weight 281.4; 12 weeks post-op 274; 4 month post-op 266.2

i am 32 days post-op and i added a spoonful of all natural Peanut Butter to my Protein Shake on thursday and got sick as a dog. i had "dumping syndrome" bad. i was at class and i had to leave and spent 35 minutes in the bathroom. i had the shakes, sweats, headache, retching and a terrible stomach pain. i look like death warmed over when i went back to class. so i'm not having peanut butter again any time soon.

I'm still preop but a good amount of people I've spoke to use PB2. It's powdered and a lot less fat.

Interesting, I keep seeing people post about their 'required daily calories'. I never had a required number until I reached goal, then I had to hit 1300 or else I keep losing. The first six months, while I was losing, I started out at 350 calories and never went above 800 calories per day and I wasn't getting 700 - 800 until the last month, which would be at month 5 post-op. I was healthy, labs were good and I felt great and felt GOOD about eating so few calories. I still under eat my sleeve and love it that calories are so low, even at 3 yrs out.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
