What do they feel like 4 days post op? I have been drinking Water, tried a Popsicle and Jello both gave me a lot of pain. Had a little diluted white grape juice but that's it since being home. I can't tell if its pain pain or if I'm feeling hunger pains.

I was not hungry after surgery. Could be gas pains....keeping walking and sipping.

I had my surgery that day too. I have hunger pains and for me, they feel the same as before the surgery. I do have discomfort and some pain which feels different.

I've been hydrating like crazy & walking, but I'm still very hungry. My stomach makes all kinds of noise now, it is loud and happens almost all of the time.

The gas can be painful. If you're not passing gas, your pain might be from that. When I'm sitting or laying down, I keep a pillow against my stomach. That helps a lot too.

I had hunger pains too (never went away for me post-op). It feel the same as pre-op but the only difference is that my stomach doesn't churn (feel like a knot). At almost 6 weeks out I still get it so, yup, it was hunger all along.

Some of us are not as lucky when it comes to getting hungry early on.

I'm still having the pains, bought gas strips which helped with the gassy bloated feeling but I definitely still have an empty grumbling feeling. Everything I eat, or drink, it goes like this. I swallow a small sip of Water an about 2 seconds after its passed my throat I feel it hit my stomach, then it instantly tightens up like a fist, then I feel the fist pressure slowly climb up my throat like a burp would, but it never amounts to anything. It just stops mid way up. I guess I'm trying to say that I'm not getting ANY relief from eating/drinking. I still feel sick and empty. I've not had anything "wrong" and been trying all sorts of allowed items to see if maybe one thing hurts less than another but it's all the same story. Jello popsicles broth Water flavored water Gatorade diluted juice sugar free pudding, it all has the same effect, although the heavier stuff does hurt a little more. I have my follow up tomorrow at 2 so of course I will bring this all up to him then. Just frustrating that I'm supposed to get all this water and Protein in when it pains me just to sip water.

I am having the same problem! The feeling you have is like a spasam that is what my dr says anyway. She said my stomach is still swollen and healing. She said some feel that more then others. She told me to try my best to stay hydrated! I just posted because I feel like it will never get better!!!

That's exactly what it feels like. A sharp spasm that's over fast but it hurts bad enough to linger. Also getting hiccups ALOT from almost every thing I drink. Those HURT

I had surgery 7/11.. and am getting though same pains. But I only get it when i add Protein to my drinks or broth. I can have sf Popsicles, sf jello.. I cant have sf pudding with protein bc I have that horrible pain. As you can see I think its protein my tummy is rejecting. I dont know what to do. Am suppose to start full liquids and am scared. I keep drinking sf propel, Vitamin Water zero and water n it does give me pain but not as often as consuming protein unflavored or nectar protein. And it takes me all day to drink 20 oz drink. Calling my dr we will what they say.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
