So this would not be a good thing for someone who is like me, at a stall??? I'm having a hard time breaking through to be at 100 pounds lost...

Look at you! You are doing great! I just saw your stats :)

Stalls are normal (but you know that) you know I would say keep up what your doing and try mixing up calories from one day to the next each week. But really 98 pounds is awesome.

How long have you been sleeved? Are you exercising?

Those things play a pretty big part in the weight loss. We all lose weight more quickly at first, but then it slows way down, and we really have to work at getting the rest off, by tracking our food, and exercising.

I think 5:2 could work for someone looking to jump start their loss again - ASSUMING that they'd fallen off the rails, were well over one year out and their normal diet is no longer working.

This plan does not result in quick loss.

It's a way to steadily shed those last few pounds you need to shed, or to jump start your loss and get back in the swing of things.

We average 1-2 pounds a week, tops. And a few gals chugging along haven't lost even that much.

So if your regular eating plan is helping you shed weight, albeit at a slow pace, now is not the time to do 5:2 - which is more like eating in maintenance, in my opinion.

As of Thursday I am 13 months out...I exercise 5-6 days a week and my doc has me at 1200 calories a day....I've tried eating more, or cutting back to 1000 and I would lose or gain but having a hard time breaking through past 98 pounds lost the last 3 months....I'm thinking to try to do this 5-2 plan these next couple of weeks until I have to report back to work for the school year....

If you understand how the plan works, and you try it for 2 weeks and think it will work for you, you could join us in our 5:2 group.

We don't want to exclude anyone, but we want everyone to give their surgeon's plan eat least 1 year.

That link does not mention the 12 hour window.

Once you eat Breakfast you can only eat for 12 hours. So I don;'t eat Breakfast until 11 am so I can have a night time snack. I am a night owl, so I like to eat something around 10-11 pm

Give it a try! you are far enough out to try this plan. After a year or two or three some of us have still not gotten to our goal, or got to goal and have experienced a bounce of 10-25 pounds that we hare having a lot of trouble getting off, some of us have been useing the 5:2 and slowly getting some movement. It might be good for you, give it a try and if you like it you can join our 5:2 group if you like. Sometimes that stall can end up lasting for months and months. We just want to make sure people know that we don't think this is for people who are still under a doctors care, early out, before getting to a more mature place in the healing and weightloss process. Congrats on the 98 by the way! Great!

My hubby and I did this diet for 6-8 weeks earlier this year (February to March or April). He lost about 15 lbs. and I lost about 7. After about six weeks, I found I pretty much stopped losing weight, which peeved me to no end, so I ended up going back to "normal" eating. I think once my body figures out what the diet is, it seems to devise ways to stop losing weight (arggh).

So yes, I'd say try it to see if it breaks your stall, and if not there's no harm.

I have to say that being sleeved is a big plus for this diet. I found I could get by pretty well on ultra-low calories as long as I took in plenty of fluids throughout the day.

I am just now recovering from breast reduction/lift surgery and want to lose another 5 lbs. later this year, and I would definitely do the 5:2 diet again if I need to drop a few lbs.

      Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

      The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

        Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
