Nikki - hope the little guy is recovering from his operation. Kids recover so quickly!

Well its been 2 months since TOM has been around - but I guess I'm not done with this bs yet! Dang - you all just wait til you go thro menopause - it sucks. BUT the good news is I didn't have the weight gain - so do you think.. can I hope?... maybe when I'm done I'll have dropped a couple more pounds. LOL

ok, so we are going on vacation anyway. DH has his leave paperwork in hand and says we are going. so if they need him they know where to find him, lol. So we are still unsure if they are going or not, and when. Thanks for all of your support I really appreciated it.

Week 4 couch to 5k done!!! I've been slowing it down to 4.5, but the last 5 minute run i ran it at 6.5! It felt so good, and I wasn't even tired, i just got out of breath so i know that I'm not quite there yet. I am pumped for week 5 it's already on my ipod waiting for me! I am really loving this program. Week five work out 3 is all running! crazy that i'll be running for real in just 3 work outs.

brandi, I totally agree with you. I have no idea what our men are doing there. I can't say I completely disagree with the war, a lot of good has been done for iraq, i would just like to see an end in sight. I'm praying that our president has our best interest in mind and that he prays before he makes these decisions. Which is one reason I would like to see Mitt Romney actually make it in the running, not sure if he will though.

You are so right about these guys having to put serious relationships on hold, and that is probably why they choose be drunk and sleep around everynight. If I were in their shoes I might too! lol. Serving the country is quite a sacrafice and we don't do it for the itty bitty paycheck we receive. We do it because we love our country and I'm sure your Marine feels the same. I am so greatful especially for those Marines, they do the hard hard stuff that noone else will do. Be proud of that man!

Transformer...sorry to hear about your son!! A friend of mine actually runs a website that sells course material for homeschoolers. You can get a free trial too, so if you want to check it out, let me know and I can PM it to you. Hang in there!

STEPH....Wow! You are looking fabulous!! I made an appt. to get my next fill FINALLY on Dec. 13th! I'm going to have my Sister take some more pics since it will be only 2 days from my "bandiversary" to see if I can see the changes...right now I can't!

BMAN....that is a funny story about your Marine "buzzing" in his formation! lol

Claud...Hope you're having fun w/Boo!

Nat...thanks for checkin in!

Kaydot...Yeah...I'd love to do a xmas gift exchange! Count me in!!

Sweet...I sure hope that your hubby doesn't end up having to go to Iraq!

As for me...I've been around...just been laying low, haven't been feeling well. This not having a job thing is really starting to get to me...I try to keep my spirits up by going out w/my friends, but as soon as I get home, I start thinking about it and get depressed. I know something will come along, but its just so frustrating.

I'm getting ready to head up to Boston for Thanksgiving w/my parents and my sister will fly in from CO as well. Should be fun!

I'm trying to be a better bandster and get back to the basics before I go back for my fill on the 13th....

Hope you're all doing well!

Sweethot -- I am very proud of him. He is doing it for all the right reasons. To better himself, his life, and his country. I sent him an email on monday... i'd been watching a special on TV about the Marines and what they do. It just got me thinking. So, I sent him a note just to let him know that I was proud of his decision and I knew that his family had to be proud of him as well. I just thought it needed to be stated outloud. :-)

I agree with you about the drinking and the womanizing! If I were them, I wouldn't want to be worried about some girl that I just met back in the states. They sometimes don't know if they are going to live or die. I certainly understand the whole "living for today" mindset. I guess not all of them are that way, but they must be strong souls!

He is certainly growing on me. I found myself looking forward to his phone call last night which is different. I avoided them for almost two weeks when he first started calling. (yeah, i know bad Brandi) I figured if he WAS just interested in a booty call that he would eventually give up. However, he didn't give up and his persistence has paid off! (for now)

He has been calling me once or twice a day for the last week. We don't talk about too many serious things or for a terribly long time. But it is still more than I talk to anyone else. I think he just really likes having someone to listen and dicuss things that are NOT marine related. and also to likes to have someone to tell about the things he is seeing and experiencing too.

I've always been a good listener. So, he made a wise choice I suppose.

I will know more after I get to see him again in person next weekend. We are getting together on Friday and Saturday of next week. So, yes... i AM giving him a big 'ol fat chance. Which is a big deal, this is the first guy that has managed to get me to do that. All of these other guys that have sniffed around my life didn't really stand a fighting chance thanks to my rocky past. I had a brickwall up about 5 miles thick and no desire to knock it down for any of them.

The jury is still definitely out on this one. But the man is making some small progress. I will have to keep you all updated.

Hi ladies!

I hope everyone is well!

We know what VABandster and sweethot are up to for Thanksgiving (here's hoping sweethot's DH can stay put!). What's everyone else doing?

nikki--glad to hear your DS is on the mend! Phew! :(

We're partying big time at my house! I finally have heat!!! :whoo: The new system looks so nice compared to my old "frankenfurnace!" LOL It's actually a gaspack combined A/C and heating unit. :)

I'm cooking a full spread for Thanksgiving. Even if I can't eat much of it, I still love to cook! :hungry: I'm a scientist, so cooking is fun! Believe it or not, my ex-hubby is coming over--do you think I get extra points for that when I get to the pearly gates?? :biggrin1: Neither of us have family in the area, so we're making do. At least we're still civil after 15 years of being divorced! LOL!

My DS's attitude has done a complete 180 since I pulled him out of school (and so has mine--there's a big shocker!). We got the new English books I ordered from the correspondence school on-line and the lesson plans should arrive early next week. He's hoping he can motor on through the coursework at an accelerated rate so he can catch up on the credits he's lost this semester and the ones he lost in Algebra last year. He really needs to pass two years of math this year to get back on track. We have everything all set up--computer, desk, etc. I'll develop a schedule once I get the rest of the information next week.

By the way, my weight went down to 221 (gasp!) briefly last week! Hooray! Of course, it's almost my TOM so it shot back up to 225. Boo! Hiss! I'm thinking about getting my "equipment" ripped out. I wonder if they could combine a "uterus extraction" with a "lower body lift"--do they have a "Buy One Get One Free" coupon? :car:

On that note, I'd better go! Have a fantastic week! I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving and enjoys seeing family and friends!

I will be at home with kids, hubby and his grandma. I have to tell you girls things are just not going well at home. :) Is it possible to want something more than someone else can ever give you?

I am so tired of feeling my heart break so much. I love him, but maybe that isn't enough?

Boo...So sorry to hear things aren't well at home. Yes, I absolutely belive that its possible for love to 'not be enough'. I've been there, done that. Some people just aren't capable fo giving us what we want and need....I pray that you figure out what's best for you and your kiddos! Hang in there....we're here for you!

BMan...sorry to hear you're marine isn't coming into town, but I'm sure you'll have fun being lazy! ;-)

I'm off to meet w/a recruiter today about hopefully some possible job opportunities. Please pray that I get a job soon! This is just getting ridiculous (and depressing)! :-(

Hi all!

Boo sounds like you had a wonderful time! Don't forget we ALL want to meet Ophra :scared: - I hope things get better on the homefront - I know that those were some difficult years in our life. But we all have our own lives to live and what one of us can deal with another can't so just be sure its the best for the whole family. BTW - your pics look gorgeous!!!

Sweet - enjoy your trip - wish I were able to explore Europe - lucky ducky.

Bman - sounds like a nice weekend of lazing around. Your marine sounds like a nice guy, just take it slow and enjoy getting to know him.

Natster - babe where are you?

Va - I'm praying for ya, theres bound to be the perfect job out there.

Transformer - I'm glad things are working out with your son. It sounds like he's focused and thats important.

BK - hon we miss you.

Kaydoll? recuped yet?

Nikki - I'm sure your baby is getting what he needs - I've known alot of women who dont' gain much the first few months and then only gain 10-20 lbs total, of course that wasn't me - I ate for 5 :fish: - but if you're losing then he's taking all the extra from you. Just please make sure you take your vitamins!

I had a rough weekend. A dear friend died Thursday night. She was just 47. She has a boy in 10th grade and a little girl in 1st grade. She had cancer, but just diagnosed 4 months ago. She was always chubby - like me with the belly - and I guess she hurt her back and was being treated for it and they said you need to see a bone specialist, they never even found out where the cancer started, she was so far into it. Her dh and my dh went to school together so we were friends that way and then when I was a stay at home mom I babysat her son. Its just is so sad. This has been a bad year for us, first dh's best friend was just 54 and now Sandy at just 47 - just too darn young!

I haven't exercised in a few weeks! I still haven't even cleaned my dreadmill off! But I'm not gaining, infact I think I'm still losing about 1/2 to 1 lbs a week.

Thanksgiving - I'm doing the cooking. Which I love. My son and dil will go to her moms for dinner and come over later but I'll have the girls and my niece and her dh and kids - about 9 of us - this is the menu.

Turkey w/stuffing

mashed taters

green bean hotdish

sweet potatoes

corn pudding

cranberry salad

rolls

pecan, pumpkin and apple pie (maybe coconut cream if they twist my arm)

What about you? Then after all the dishes are cleaned up the men sit in front of the tv and the women play games. Usually Phase 10. Its one of my favorite days.

Boo - I sent ya a note on yahoo :scared:

Nikki - dont worry about that baby as long as YOU ARE TAKING YOUR VITAMINS! haha :fish: Just keep eating away - healthy nutrient filled foods and you will be fine! so, happy for you.

Oh! and dont worry about my marine. I was a little disappointed, but not upset. I asked him two nights ago. "What is it about me that you enjoy talking to me so much?" He kind of paused (you could tell he was thinking) and said, "I dont know that I can be sure. I just know that I always enjoy the conversation and I find myself looking forward to talking to you each day." Hhhmmmmm... ok, I will take that.

Well, slow will be the only way this goes. I will have one chance to see him over his Christmas leave (Dec 18th) Then, he is off to regular duty and could be gone for TWO years. He just may have to be someone else's chocolate covered Marine ;) I've got a new friend out of it. I will take that. I am not disappointed in that. He is an awesome person. I am glad I gave him a chance to show me that.

Steph - I am so sorry about you friend. That must be difficult for you and your friends family. during the holidays too... that only makes it tougher.

You meal sounds delicious. We are having turkey, mashed potatoes and my favorite turkey/sage STUFFING - YUM! There is plenty of other things we are having but I am going to only be eating those... probably not many potatoes either. I am going for the turkey and stuffing!

Oh, and I am making sugar free - no crust pumpkin pie! mmmmm..... yum

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
