Honestly, how much do you vomit?

I will be two years out next month, and I have never vomited since surgery. Twice I got a saliva-filled mouth from eating too much too fast but that was pretty early on when I was still learning about my sleeve.

15 Months out from surgery and have never vomiting. I have had the dry hives a few times.

NEVER!

As opposed to 10 years with the lapband where is was a regular event even with no fill.

I have to admit...I do at least twice a week. Some days I can eat certain things and then I have it a couple days later and NOPE... :wacko:

You know, at 3 years out I threw up a week ago after eating dense chicken breast and grilled asparagus. I think the asparagus set me up for the "issue". And again, I eat too fast!

Georgia, my experiences echo yours. Asparagus combined with chicken always gets me too! I am, unfortunately, a fast eater. It is one of my vices I never did correct after surgery. I never eat too much, but always eat too fast. And then it is off to the bathroom for me. You figure I would learn my lesson by now at 1 year, but nooooo. Lol. Fortunately, it does not happen too often any longer when eating chicken, but I do have to be careful when combining with asparagus, celery, string green Beans or other longish green veggies. Red pepper might get me also If I do not pay attention.

I believe that the eating fast is the contributor. I said I never vomit, and that is true, but i would say during the first year I probably vomited 2-3 times. Every.single.time it was due to eating too fast.

I eat slowly and delicately now.... it is also what keeps me from overeating since I no longer weigh/measure food. People don't guess I had weight loss surgery, they just think I am a fussy eater...LOL... me???

When I had the lapband, even with NO fill, certain foods (rice the main culprit) made me vomit 100% of the time no matter how slowly I ate. Most foods I could eat endlessly though - that is why i hated the band so much. It was like a torture device.

What I can tell you from 10 years of vomiting is that it isn't very good for you. Luckily I didn't do it so much that it caused me permanent damage, but if you are a regular vomiter, be aware that you can get problems with your esophogus etc.

Im a firm believer that in order to vomit with the sleeve you're doing something wrong. Learn the no's of your particular sleeve and the vomiting should not happen. Sometimes it's a hit and miss until you know everything, but it's not normal to vomit with the sleeve.

Perhaps vomiting is too strong of a word. It is more like sliming. Eating too fast causes sliming repeatedly until you learn to eat slower or less. Eating something before your sleeve is ready may cause vomiting. Vomiting occurred 2-3 times for me (retraction from above with the clarification made in this post). Sliming occurred for me all the time because I primarily eat dense Protein and eat too fast. I do not like sliming in public (even in front of family) so excuse myself to the bathroom if it occurs. It was very common for me to slime up until month 6. Now I only do it on occasion. I threw up from trying to eat beef before month 5. It became ok after that to eat beef, especially after month 6.

Yes certain things bring it on for sure..Asparagus and any stringy meats are a big no no for me. No more pot roast or BBQ. Some days I can eat grilled chicken and other days not. I honestly think my digestion is better on some days. I am 2,5 years out and I know the things I can not have and stay away from them. I still have those things that sneak up on me though.

Once, after drinking a milkshake and not knowing that I had become lactose intollerant to full fat milk and cream. That was the only time.

        Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

      Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

      Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

        Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
