Bredred 45 Posted July 12, 2013 When I was preop, I made chicken Soup. I strained the chicken, onion, carrots and celery out so I could have the broth for preop and postop. I puréed the chicken and veggies together for the purée stage, which I'm clear to start on Monday. At the first bite class I attended, the NUT said to stay away from celery because it's hard to digest. Do you think it would be ok to have the purée I made since the celery was first boiled in the soup and then puréed with the chicken, carrots and onion? RJ'S/beginning 5,358 Posted July 12, 2013 Try it and you will find out.....It is hard to digest but I really don't think you will have any trouble with it.. Funny though...my daughter made 3 different broths for me and took the veggies and did what you did...I had tons of it in my freezer....Didn't touch any of it...My sleeve was so sensitive at the time and now 9 months later if anyone mentions broth or liquids like Protein shakes I nearly go insane..... For you..if you are up to it......Try it and you will know almost right away! all the best! 1 Bredred reacted to this
megansmommy123 57 Posted July 16, 2013 I would say yes. I think they celery is hard to digest because its stringy, but if its cooked and pureed it should be fine. I ate some celery in Soup at about 3 weeks post op. It was cooked really soft, and I didn't have any problems.
