When will it get better?

Recommended Posts

I'm 3 weeks post op and having difficulty taking my Vitamins. I usually like my vitamins with food. However after any meal I'm just too full to take anything else. I haven't taken any vitamins other than B12. Just not looking forward to my chalky Calcium lol. I also have liquid Omega but also not looking forward to that. I'm afraid to vomit. I am only taking one Protein Drink a day. I wanna be healthy and for that I know I must take them but I'm just too afraid to vomit.

Have you tried to take the Vitamins before you eat, therefore you would have taken them before you get food. Maybe eat a little less when taking the vitamins. I'll be 3 weeks out on Wednesday :) I only drink 1 ptorein shake a day too, but eat Protein in my food.

I could not take my Vitamins until 6 weeks, then I had to move to Centrum Chewable's, because I would throw up the vitamins I got from the DR. also, the calcium chews, I get them from Dr's office, they taste like tootsie rolls, lemon drops or caramel chews......LOVE Them..... I think you are pushing the vitamins too soon.......check with your DR

All of mine are chewable. I'm post op day 9 started them on day 7 and so far so good. I do split up the calcium citrate into 2 times a day though. They are a little much even though they are chewable. I bought the petite Calcium citrates opened them up and saw there was nothing petite about them! I'd have to take 4 a day!! No way! So now I add the little extra sugar and do the gummys! Hope this helps!!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
