annoying post op contour band

Recommended Posts

I didn't mind wearing it at all- it helped SO MUCH to reduce the pain. I wore mine every day for the first two weeks, and then off and on for the next two weeks.

Does anyone else have to wear the band around your waist after surgery....if so how long?

What is the band? I'm getting my surgery sleeves 9/16/13 will I need to wear one?

Its a tight band that holds everything in per say...it helps with pain but its very uncomfortable. It seems some get it and some don't.

I didn't have one. And I had very little pain post-op.

I wish I had one... In the hospital my friend got one and I didn't. I think that's why my scars look worse! I feel like the band would of kept things in place rather than having gravity and a large swollen stomach wreak havoc!

I woke up with one on post-op, and actually found it really helpful! In the beginning, it was a lot more comfortable with it on. It holds everything in place and helped with reducing pain. When I took it off, it found like everything was loose and "exposed". I probably wore mine for the first week or so, but I could have taken it off anytime.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
