Hello,

I'm 3 weeks post op in puree/soft foods stage

My doctor told me to eat 5-6 meals a day,but since I can't eat alot on each meal I decided to eat every 2hrs and fluids in between. Now I feel hungry.! Its not head hunger or food attachment syndrome because I never had that prior to surgery. My little stomach growls... Lol

Does anyone feel this? Is it because my metabolism finally started working?

Would like to hear from anyone that has felt the same

I too got the growls. I have them worse now that I'm on soft foods and back at work. When I got them and I was on the pureed stage, I went for a sugar free fruit popsicle (which pretty much counts as a liquid). That put the rumbling to rest until I next ate something. Fluids will also help some in between meals.

I have the same feeling, everyone keeps trying to tell me it's head hunger, but I keep saying it isn't. LOL..I usually will drink something and it helps or I will do the same and eat alittle something every 3 hours...

Yeah I know its not head hunger or thirst because my stomach growls. I dont think of food or crave anything in particular...

I was at a stall for not eating enough but since Tuesday I started eating every 2 hrs I've lost 3lbs in 3days so something is happening :-)

Acid! It makes the growling noises like hunger. Take some Pepcid it helps. I take 20mg 2x/day.

The sticky/pinned thread labeled FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS addresses this under "Why am I always hungry?".... The whole thread is full of useful info BTW....

Hi,

I havent had acid reflux or anything. I eat everything well. But I will check out the thread and see if its normal. Before I had the sleeve I wouldnt eat Breakfast because if I did then I was hungry ALL DAY... My trainer at that time said that it was because I had jump started my metabolism and its processing everything quickly..

Thank you guys for your comments wish y'all luck :-)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
