I had my band Sept 21 06, told everyone thinking it would be a huge success. excellent surgeon, op went well. Home next day with empty band. Disaster, husband in coronary care same night I came home.In the pandemonian that followed I dont know if I took in too much liquids or mulched food, but I surprised myself at how much I could take in after a couple of days of not really studying my situation. I actually felt the band was not stable, it seemed to move, but I though I might imagined it. I moved to thicker foods faster than I should and gained 2kg, after the op. at 1month 1ml some action not taking in as much, but not knowing when to stop, before too late, pain, discomfort, regurging for relief. sometimes 2 mouthfuls pulled me up, while other times a small plate of food was no problem until afterwards, I knew I was in trouble.I ate small portions of anything mulched to a paste, lots of chicken Soup. gained 2kg, at 1 month had fill 1ml, progressed to more solids, pain regurged small portions, no feelling of fullness till too late! another fill 0.2ml lost 4kg immediatly then nothing for the rest of the month. no feeling of fullness till too late, then regurge to ease the pain. next month 1.1 ml put on 2kg over Xmas. Sometimes two mouthfuls, pain no feeling of fullness, just blocked, drink coke push it through hungry again in no time, gullet feels iritated, never feel satiated, just uncomfortable and bloated have to wash the food through cant stand the discomfort, and then Im looking for something else in no time because Im hungry again. Before the op, I lost 35kg dieting, but put it all back on. At 3 months 1.03ml, no weight loss,

too depressed to exercise, not enjoying any food, eating crap in minute quantities regularly. Doctor has no answers, could this be the symptoms of a slipped band?

it does not move now, since it was tightened, but I reckon it did early on. can any one advise? Oh husband spent 5 days, and an angiogram in CCU, - outcome -indigestion! Doctor says his heart is perfect!

Hey Lillynushoes :(

Waving from Adelaide to Melbourne

Thanks for sharing your experience. I'm pleased it was a small thing and nothing serious for your husband while in CCU. (giggle at indigestion)

As for your experience with the band GOSH it doesn't sound good.

The only part I can relate to is the pain when eating a couple of mouthfulls. This only happens when I eat Jelly (the only sort of solid i'm eating at the moment) I can manage about 3-4 spoons then I have to stop casue it hurts, but differently from you I feel full (I think) Sometimes its hard to know. I'm hoping as time goes on I will get a better feel for this. I would be depressed in your situation undoubtedly NO weight loss after 3 months and all that cost and suffering. Tell me has the Dr done an xray to see if the band slipped? I always say trust your feelings, in your case you felt the band had slipped. I would be getting hot onto the Dr in your case and demanding (nicely) answers or my money back. Good luck with your latest fill and weight loss. I guess we have some responsibility to be concious of what we put in our mouths also. I'm too scared to try anything other than solids, if jelly hurts, what is real food going to do?

Sorry I don't have an answer re if the band has slipped or not. But my sincerest wishes for your future :) CHEERS

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
