Oregondaisy 2,021 Posted December 19, 2014 you need a lot of repeated treatments. My daughter has been going every 4 weeks since April, and she still has new growth coming in.
Globetrotter 1,340 Posted December 19, 2014 I go for electrolysis, not laser, electrolysis is the only way to permanently remove hair. HOWEVER, if the hair is being given strength and stamina because of a hormone imbalance the problem will never really go away until you have electrocuted your entire beard; when one follicle is dead, your hormones turn to the next available hair! I used to have to pluck my chin every other day and I still had visible roots under my fair skin, now I have an electrolysis treatment once every 3 weeks, I've been receiving treatments since Sept. CowgirlJane 14,260 Posted December 19, 2014 Laser is done.every 6 weeks and 6 sessions are planned. I did electrolysis of some chin hairs ages ago an about passed out from the pain...OMG. I became.pregnant with my son and decided the trauma hormones weren't good so I quit after maybe 2-3 treatments. And there is no truly permanent hair removal if new ones come in however laser ing or electrolytes can hugely reduce the issue.
sarsar 824 Posted December 19, 2014 Hi. Sorry I haven't been around. I had a car accident, thankfully wasn't my fault. I have a concussion and some whiplash so I'm not feeling the best. Pretty sure our car was totaled. I'll explain more a little later. Wanted you all to know I'm thinking about you.
UK Cathy 977 Posted December 19, 2014 Sarah, sorry to hear that but so glad you are OK, take care of yourself as whiplash is very painful. The car can be replaced but you can't. As a group we really do represent everyday life what with births, death, marriage, accidents sickness and wellbeing - we have had it all. What is really nice is that we are here to support each other through life's ups and downs.

You take good care of yourself, A car crash is just rotten. Glad it wasn't worse, or your fault, but get a good checkup and any treatment you may need. Don't tell me the other guy was texting? My last two accidents were caused by someone texting....
Oregondaisy 2,021 Posted December 20, 2014 Sarah, I am so sorry to hear about this accident! How scary. Whiplash is painful. You should probably get a lawyer. They are going to want to send you a check as soon as possible, and you don't know what treatments you're going to be needing. I worked for a Motor Vehicle Accident attorney. My infection is back in my incision. It's so weird. I was completely closed up. and all of a sudden it's all swollen, and stuff is running out of it. I had to to go to the ER while Bill and I were out of town. Now I have to have shots. I have to go to the hospital tomorrow and the next 3 days to get an antibiotic shot. The Risk Manager at the hospital called me. This is going to cost way more than my back surgery was supposed to cost. From the IV antibiotic I had to get twice a day thought a pic line and now shots every day, I am going to end up with a huge bill. I am going to be telling the hospital risk manager they need to reduce my bill. My daughter works there, and she said the hospital is going to be glad to do that, cause they are afraid of a law suit. Never the less, I am sick again with an infection and a fever and pain from my incision opening up . I am far from being healed.
Globetrotter 1,340 Posted December 20, 2014 Yikes Sarah, YIKES Denise! Sarah, take it from ME, a concussion (also known as traumatic brain injury) requires total brain rest - TOTAL! That means put down the computer, books, music, any sort of stimulation at all, for 3 days! And Denise, this is the nightmare everyone dreads, make sure they take care of you, advocate for yourself! I stopped the ng tube diet, it was working gangbusters but my internal passageways are much too petite and the pain was too much.
feedyoureye 3,087 Posted December 21, 2014 So sorry Denise! Do take very good care of yourself and the time to heal right. (then give them hell about the bill!)
coops 1,790 Posted December 21, 2014 Sarah and Denise... get better soon! x
feedyoureye 3,087 Posted December 22, 2014 (edited) I have to say, it has been (and still is) one eating opportunity after another! I am trying to take my own advice and write it all down, even when they are not great choices... but some home made chocolate covered Peanut Butter balls are not countable unless you make them your self! (thats my pathetic excuse....) Most days where I count, I am about 300 cals over my limit.... so 10 days = a pound... good luck with that. I can see a pooch developing on my stomach.... peanut butter ball pooch! YIKES!!! Edited December 22, 2014 by feedyoureye
Oregondaisy 2,021 Posted December 23, 2014 I finally saw my surgeon and he opened the wound back up and packed it with gauze. I have to go back tomorrow to have the packing changed.Plus I am on these horse pills antibiotics that I have to take 3 x per day. I'm taking a really good and expensive probiotic because the pharmacist said I would get horrible diarrhea from them. I can already feel a yeast infection coming on. I was hoping the Probiotics would take care of it and I wouldn't get one. The only good thing is these antibiotics make me feel so sick , the last thing I feel like is eating. I hope to lose the fat belly I have acquired from too many Christmas goodies. My surgery was 11-4 . I am so tired of dealing with this!! Hope everyone else is doing well and enjoying the holidays. I have never been one to get excited over the holidays because to me, it just means a bunch of work . I got my tree up today and had to laugh at how many grinch ornaments I have acquired from my kids over the years.
sarsar 824 Posted December 24, 2014 Denise!!!! I am so sorry you are having a hard time healing. Try to up your Protein. I'm thinking of you. I know when I had plastics the surgeon said numerous times that patients that have had WLS have a higher chance of having infections and wound issues. I would think its the same for any surgery. Hang in there! Sheryl are you doing ok? Usually your the one who pops in on a regular basis. Hope all is well. Lynda, glad you had a nice trip. Sorry we haven't been very active in here lately. Hopefully that will change after the holidays. I know I'll be ready to jump back in after the holidays and get back into the swing of things. Anyway, tell us a little about yourself when you have some time. I know the rest of us know about each others lives fairly well. Are you married? Kids? Sue, I know just what you mean about the holidays and family. For the past many years we have had some family issues and have not all celebrated together. Long story, I won't bore you all with the details but this year my whole family is going to be together. I am so happy. So very happy!! Kim, hang in there! I know what you mean, I keep munching here and there and every where. I haven't been able to exercise since the accident and usually exercising allows me a few extra snacks! sarsar 824 Posted December 24, 2014 Florinda, are you doing ok? What did it feel like when you got the tube out? Were you starving? Did you want to eat right away? Cathy, thinking about you this holiday season. It'll be hard without your mom in law. You too Kim, first Xmas without your mom. Hugs to you both. So I'm trying to hang in there myself with this stupid car accident. I was picking my son up from high school. I pulled into the parking lot, still had my foot on the brake, and one of the teachers was leaving. He was speeding through the parking lot and ran a stop sign and hit me. HARD! We are waiting on the final word but pretty sure our minivan was totaled. I ended up with a pretty bad concussion and whiplash. I'm still having concussion symptoms and I'm not even supposed to be on here now. I'm supposed to be resting my brain. Hard to do this time of year. I have had a little memory loss. But it's more when a bunch of things are going on at one time or if the kids are asking me a million questions at the same time. It's like my brain goes into overload and I can't think anymore. The headaches and dizziness are frustrating. The whole accident is just a pain as they are for anyone. The guy will not return calls from his or my insurance company and he is at fault. So that means we have to pay whatever out of pocket until he decides to cooperate. You would think that since it happened at his place of work, it was his fault, and he has a chance of having my son for a student in the next 3 years that he would cooperate and be a respectful human being. Oh well. Yes, we have a lawyer. This has put a damper on getting ready for Xmas. No baking and you all know how I love to bake. Tomorrow my daughter will be home and the house will be full again! Merry Christmas to all of you if I don't get back on bf Christmas.
