SeriouslyChange 319 Posted July 12, 2013 So I just got to onederland, yay... Issue: I have been eating so bad these past 2 days. And eating whatever. I understand that it gets harder as you go out. But this is f-ing ridiculous. It's like I'm daring my body to gain on me. And this all started as soon as I dipped under 200... I'm sure there is something psychologically wrong with me but how can I get this under control? 1 Ms skinniness reacted to this

clk 3,519 Posted July 12, 2013 Once you start on foods that trigger you, it's hard to stop. You need to go cold turkey, cut the addiction out and start over. Reevaluate what got you here. Were you leaning on food because you feel anxiety or fear now that you're shedding weight? Was there another reason that you opted to go off? Had you been thinking about those foods for a long time and then decided that you'd "earned" a splurge? Whatever it is, isolate the cause of this so that you can help avoid it again in the future. Sad truth: some people can do moderation and some cannot. My suggestion is to explore the triggers (emotional as well as from your food choices) and focus on the diet that has gotten you to this point before working into a more normal way of eating. Remember, normal for us was what made us obese enough to need surgery. You don't just shake that off because they snipped your stomach out! You have to find out the cause of this or at least how to avoid it. Otherwise you will have problems in maintenance, where it becomes even easier to slide off the rails entirely. Two days? No big deal. Go back to basics - drink at least 64 oz. of Water, eat your Protein and only fit in veggies, fruit and carbs after you've eaten enough Protein.< /p> ~Cheri 3 Joe I, amykins and Ms skinniness reacted to this
Ms skinniness 3,003 Posted July 13, 2013 This is an experience that you can learn from. Look at what was going on that trigger eating the wrong types of food. Can you go through your cub boards and get rid of all the bad foods? Just keep Proteins, veggies in the house and pack your lunches for work (if you work). Refocus on the beginning stages of your diet for this. I also recommend making an appointment with your NUT. Perhaps seeing a therapist will help develop new coping skills to change these behaviors. It is not too late.
lsereno 2,525 Posted July 13, 2013 Yep. We've all been there at least once. When I had my bounce range set for 5 lbs I went to town on the junk food. Finally got back to goal and reset my bounce range to 2 lbs. Try writing a letter to yourself talking about your recent behavior and why you want to change. Sometimes when I do that I learn why I am doing that behaviour and it's easier to change. Lynda
Fiddleman 4,376 Posted July 13, 2013 How about binge eating Cookies and cake in a dream. I bet that causes weight gain because the unconscious interprets dreams and reality as the same set of experiences. Just something to pontificate on. 1 Georgia reacted to this

CowgirlJane 14,260 Posted July 23, 2013 I started at well over 300 and when i got to 200 I sorta lost my focus too. I eventually realized it was because I needed to really rethink what I wanted in terms of a goal weight. At some level, i had some resistance and fear about losing more weight. At 200# I could be active and enjoyed life, but was still using fat as some sort of emotional protection. Once I faced some of those issues internally, I could get back on track. Yeah, that, and going low carb is how I got to goal. 3 Joe I, Fiddleman and SeriouslyChange reacted to this
Georgia 2,908 Posted August 1, 2013 Oh, yes! There is something about getting down below that 200 # that feels like "we have arrived" for a while! I actually was losing so quickly that I went right on by it but when I got to REAL GOAL, I immediately went into this mindset that says, "I DID IT! NOW LET'S EAT AND CELEBRATE!" lol Needless to say, I kept at goal for several months and then gradually sugar addiction crept back up and I gained about 20 lbs over the 2nd year, FINALLY, stopped myself and with encouragement from other sleevers and mentally "taking myself in hand", I found something to work for me and have lost the weight and back on maintenance/losing track! As all have said, COLD TURKEY! Moderation does NOT work and especially since you are not at goal. Too hard to relose the weight once it comes back! You can do it!!!!! 1 Ms skinniness reacted to this
