The 2 week post op diet is all liquid, maybe she was confused about which one you were asking about.

Oh that would be great...I've been "preparing" myself mentally for an all liquid diet...I hope you are right and that I am wrong!!! I have a high BMI (50) so I was thinking maybe that meant I needed to do liquid first...Sara did make a point of saying "two weeks of liquid pre op and two weeks of liquid post op". I guess I'll find out on Monday...

My BMI is over 50, and I don't have an all liquid pre op. My surgery is only 3 days away. Getting excited.

How are you doing adargie?

Congrats on a date, gardengirl. I had dr. Foote also and he's just great. 7 weeks now and starting to feel pretty good, except diarrhea issues that we're working on.

Sorry guys I just saw these posts. I am doing quite well actually. I woke up this morning with less pain, I have had no nausea since the hospital. But I am having a heck of a time getting down the food they give us from the office. I like the shakes that are in the bottles and I can usually barely stomach the nectar ones. the Gelatin is ok too. But the Soups are terrible!!! Make me sick to my stomach, so looks like I wasted a bunch of money on those foods. I just ordered unjury and went to costco to get the premier shakes in choclate.

This morning I felt great, took a shower started some laundry and then felt light headed, so I got my G2 and drank that then my shake. I am amazed at the size of swallows I can get in. But I think alot of it was fear of putting in anything in my new tummy. It does take awhile to get down a full shake but I work on it all day. I am going to walk alot today, need to start pushing myself. I go back to work monday and will be on my feet alot since I have been gone. I don't do any lifting but I am sure they will have a full schedule for me.

Gardengirl, I was only a one week pre-op because I was considered "low BMI" but I don't think they do that often. I actually liked the food then, in the meals, and bars, but the Soups like I said are horrendous to me. Good luck keep us posted and feel free to ask me anything you want. I love having people to talk to about this because I am not telling others about it. I was super happy with the staff at st marys they were on time and almost pushed the meds on me to make sure I was comfortable. I had a couple different kinds of nausea meds thru the IV that helped because I had one instance that was bad, no retching but lots of saliva pouring out!

I have not had a BM yet which doesn't worry me but I my take something tomorrow if nothing happens today.

I only had a 1week preop just due to when surgery and the preop visit were scheduled. I had a low BMI and did not do all liquid, I did as described with bars, meals, and Snacks. Avoid the Soups at all costs, trust me.

Great list!!!! I'm just first going to the pre op meeting on Monday but it's interesting to see what you start transitioning to. Did you use any unflavored Protein Powder to mix into puddings or Soups?

Hi! Sounds like you are doing great!! Are you nervous to go back to work? Do you have a family you have to cook for/take care of? I'm concerned about that during both the pre op and post op stages...thankfully I'm a stay at home mom so I don't have to worry about going back to work but I do have to cook and take care of my kids...is that something you are balancing too?

What is your post op diet like right now? Is it products from GHP? And how has your walking going?

I'm sure my questions sound all over the place. I'm feeling kind of scatterbrained lately. This week I decided to stop eating everyday by 4 and then have a store bought Protein shake in place of dinner. I go to bed starving but I've lost a few pounds already and I think it is helping me prepare. I also stopped drinking coffee which is giving me a huge headache.

I've told quite a few people, all of whom have been excited and supportive. Did you seriously tell no one? Did you have any help or support while at the hospital or t home?

Write back when you can, or private message if you want. Have a good night, Elana

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
