SarahBeth1217 19 Posted August 4, 2013 What brand of e-cig is that? Where do you get them? My e-cig is a Joyetecg e-go. I got it from a store near my house called All About Vapor. If you live in a bigger city, just google e-cigarette store; I'm sure there is one somewhere nearby (there are at least 5 in the Austin area). If not, All About Vapor has a website (www.allaboutvapor.com) and they will mail your purchase to you. You could probably even call and they would probably help you out with what to get. Hope this helps! Sorry it took me so long to post a reply.

Robyn Cabrera 23 Posted August 4, 2013 I definitely won't be popular with this response..but why the hell would you cut 85% of your stomach out to be healthy only to die of Lung Cancer because you can't quit smoking.. And yes I am a reformed smoker so I can say that. I quit smoking on December 3rd' date=' 2012 at 6pm and have NEVER looked back. I wish you luck in not continuing to smoking but if you are looking for validation to continue from this gal..you aren't gonna get it. I am sure there will be others who will say they continued to smoke etc., but to me it just makes no sense.[/quote'] I agree 100%. I quit about 6 weeks before my surgery and there's no way I'm going back. It's now just a part of my new healthy lifestyle Sent from my iPhone using VST 1 NoneYa reacted to this
kitkatcannon 26 Posted August 4, 2013 I struggle with the smoking thing. I didn't quit pre-op like I was supposed to but I did cut back. I was so nervous about my surgery, which was July 26th. I was so afraid I was going to have complications because I didn't quit. I got lucky and everything went great and I am recovering very well. I am not justifying smoking. I'm just saying that I was very lucky. I told myself that I was not going to smoke after my surgery but I'm still struggling with it. I don't smoke much but I do smoke a few. I can't even enjoy them because I'm too worried that smoking is going to harm my sleeve, which it very well could. I think it's been harder because I'm still on liquids and am struggling with that. It's been hard giving up food and trying to give up cigarettes at the same time. Fact is that smoking after the sleeve is a very bad and dangerous idea. I WILL quit and I hope I can find the strength to hurry up and do so. I feel for everyone struggling with this issue. We all worked to hard for this. Do we really want to risk it all for a cigarette? If we have the willpower and strength to do everything we have to do for our weight loss, I believe we can kick the smoking habit, too. 1 VSGAnn2014 reacted to this
endless80 697 Posted August 4, 2013 I quit smoking a year ago but still smoke marijuana. I'll stop for about a week before surgery and about 3-4 after but I don't think I'll be quitting either. 1 marleyen01 reacted to this
endless80 697 Posted August 4, 2013 Maybe (like me) look into safer delivery systems like a vape (for cigs AND green) . They're expensive but also cut out the crap from the combustion. Though I suggest you quit smoking cigs altogether. I find that when people vape their nicotine they just replace one addiction with another. I don't care how much more "healthy" it is. It's all about making healty choices. 1 VSGAnn2014 reacted to this
Alyslanta 2 Posted August 4, 2013 If you really wanna quit smoking cigarettes you should ask your doc for a Chantix prescription. I smoked for 13 years and never thought I could ever quit. But after taking it for even a week the cravings have stopped, I took it for another month after that and now I don't think I will ever go back to smoking 1 VSGAnn2014 reacted to this
MeToo 2 Posted August 11, 2013 Smoking before and after surgery just slows recovery. The more axe gym your body can get to your incisions the faster and more thoroughly you will heal. If you really want to quit smoking I recommend chantix. Works great. Work through the small amount of nausea in the am and it works really well.
MeToo 2 Posted August 11, 2013 That would be oxygen, not axe gym!

I've honestly smoked marijuana everyday since a week after my surgery , I'm not stopping . As far as cigarettes go , I have had a few here and there afterwards . I had my surgery the day before you and I was worried because I had only been off nicotine for four days. Immediately post op was hell. No nicotine, no solid food, and no Diet Wild Cherry Pepsis (I used to drink 3-4 a day). I'm feeling better now, but I still plan on switching to a vape with a little nicotine in the next few days. If you're still having a hard time quitting cigs, I would really recommend an e-cig. A lot of posters have suggested Chantix, and I'm sure it's wonderful, but not everybody can take it. My doctor wouldn't let me take it because of the increased risk for suicide. Good luck! 1 kitkatcannon reacted to this
Tanyac 31 Posted September 15, 2013 I gave up craft beer. I tend to smoke when I drink and only like one ot two cigs. And when I'm drunk and in the right company I've smoked weed too. That being said, I'm looking for a different life. I want to do this surgery so I can be healthy, not be in PAIN, have energy, be athletic, feel good about myself, and look good for once in my life before I'm too old. All of the things (besides the flesh sacrifice of the stomach) the over indulgences of alcohol, laziness, food, drugs , ect... will ALWAYS BE THERE! They aren't going to stop making any of these things any time soon. There will ALWAYS be cheesecake and fried chicken and pop. Just because you don't or shouldn't indulge right now doesn't mean that you never will again. Do your body the favor and give it a chance to thrive and heal. It's a temple. I'm not judging because I've taken my temple to the hood and have had bums living in it too long lol! And it's easy for me to speak not because I'm still presleeve. I know that this os only a hell I can imagine and I haven't been through it yet so I hope I can have the strength in my conviction. Good luck and even though you can smoke and it hasn't hurt you yet, you know it hasn't helped. Later in life vices will be there waiting for us all. J.Diesel 220 Posted September 15, 2013 Perfect time to stop. I quit soaking 2 1/2 years ago and that has been one of the best choices I made prior to the sleeve. You can do this. A better healthier you.
Mrs. Whatsit 33 Posted April 5, 2014 Isn't smoking marijuana illegal in 48 states? Maybe you're from one of the two legal ones? This forum is public. Do you want to say you're smoking weed for all the Internet to see? ETA: oops maybe you're in a different country where it's legal. Sorry I'm not judging, just concerned for privacy. lol, this is the first thing that has made me laugh all week. I smoke pot in Florida and it is ILLEGAL in Florida. Big flippidity deal. I'm 55, I have fibromyalgia and diabetic neuropathy. Would the powers that be rather I was taking oxycontin? If someone wants to come arrest this grandmother for smoking a little herb to help with her pain, then by all means bring it on. And then when you're done, I'll do my own investigating and dig out all the skeletons in your closet. I had my sleeve 5 days ago. I haven't smoked weed since December. I stopped smoking cigars in November but have probably smoked 15 since then. I smoked a cigar one week before my surgery. I'll try and wait 2 weeks before I smoke a cigar (and yes, I told my doctor all this info) and I'll smoke pot the next time I have a bad fibro flareup. Frankly, I'm not a big believer in telling my doctor everything. He's not my shrink. I'm an RN and I know what the doctor needs to know. If you're having problems, he needs to know what you're doing so he can evaluate it and decide if it's the cause. If you're not losing weight, then tell your doctor what you're eating and let him figure out what you need to change. Contrary to popular opinion, doctors are not the morality police and neither are members on a forum. I don't know anything about you and it would be completely inappropriate for me to tell you what to do or not to do. Likewise, you don't know me and are not in a position to tell me what I need to do or need to not do. All I can do is share my experience. I enjoy smoking and I don't really care what others think about it. I'm sure there are plenty of you who do things that I think are ridiculous but big frigging deal! We're here to support each other with our weight loss not judge each other on the other areas of our life. I will end this by saying I just got home from the hospital today and am rather irritable. My stomach is doing the spasm dance, which it has been doing all week. If I stepped on your toes, I apologize. I was aiming for the ground next to your toes. 3 DeniseNCC1701, ThomSB and GriffinSabine reacted to this
