Got the weightloss surgery for dummies book. Very helpful. All sorts of recipes and food lists for each stage. Lots of good information overall. Bought mine at Barnes & Nobles.

I am now 12 days post op. On stage 3 now pureed foods. My list includes poached eggs, creamy Peanut Butter, refried Beans, mashed banana, mashed avocado, cream of wheat or cream of rice, thin oatmeal, malt o meal, sf puddings, lite yogurt, and stage 1 baby food/meat, pureed meat, applesauce, mashed potatoes.

Hi - it's been a month, do you still find the books useful? I've had them pop up in my Amazon "recommended for you" list but wasn't sure if they were tailored enough for the sleeve or more generic?

I "know" a lot of information about WL but even after years of first 20-20 and then the band I don't think I've truly internalized it all. Given I got back up to 217 lbs, propably not, right? ;-)

I found nothing at Barnes and Noble regarding bariatric or weightloss surgery or cookbooks nothing! Is society really still that shhh about it! Glad my drs office sells bari books for only their cost to him! And Amazon has bunches too! I got really mad seeing ALL the dieting books, ALL the cookbooks for every possible diet ever created and NOTHING on bari!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
