You are normal......It will all pass and you will be on your way in a couple of weeks....Major surgery is hard on the body.....Your already walking around and doing great......Mention the swelling to your surgeon just for your own piece of mind....and congrats..

Look, great your thirsty......ice chips help a lot.....Take small sips of Water.....tepid...not cold...easier on the stomach......

You are perfectly normal for this phase. The nausea could be coming from the pain meds if you are taking any, and you should take them if you need them but ask them to give you an anti nausea med with them if they aren't already doing so. Keep walking it will release the gas from your stomach which will help with the pain and possibly the swelling, and keep sipping. Good Luck, enjoy the journey it's not always easy but it gets better every day.

If you are nauseous, as the dr for a patch that they put behind your ear, works wonders for me when I have any type of surgery. I might help you because you are not putting anything in your already sore tummy. Just a suggestion.

Perfectly normal. It's been one day after major surgery! Be easy, be gentle on yourself. As far as the pouch noises, it drove me crazy. It's called "grouch pouch" but it's normal too. It takes a few months to go away.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
