I teach preschool children with special needs in an inclusive classroom. Usually I have 2 or 3 children with autism in my class. It really is exhausting! But so rewarding!

I've taught general ed (math, English and Science), E.D, MIMD and my fav, MOMD. I've been very fortunate to experience a broad spectrum of kids, but my heart is with my autistic babies. They are tough little nuts to crack, but once you do, it's magical.

When I have a hard time reading a post due to "text talk", run on sentences with no punctuation, poor spelling, etc., I skip them. That's the ex-teacher in me, I guess! I don't even let my kids use text talk when texting. Ha! :D

Smh = shaking my head. I do know that one!

Lol, I'm such a dufus! I totally thought smh meant smashing my head.

Cliques? Well I've never met or talked to or seen (as far as I know) anyone here, but I do look to the wisdom of those (1) longer out and (2) successful at weight loss and maintainence. I think these are some "Consistent Realities" from them:

-- as bad as your post op situation is, it Will get better

-- follow your plan

-- when something sounds unusual or "bad", check with your doctor,

-- follow your plan,

-- after your sleeve is "for life", there will be changes in your relationship to food, Water, Vitamins, and activity, and,

-- follow your plan

I only learned the lingo because my kids are 13 and 15 and I wanted to know what their friends were saying on FB. (Yes' date=' I make mine use proper English on FB and Instagram, too.)

To add to that, my mother started using text talk with no idea what she's saying, so I have to stop her antics![/quote']

The fact you teach your kids to use proper English on FB tickles me pink! Love it! More parents should do this!!

I find this forum to be tremendously helpful and supportive, and have felt that way from my pre- to post-op phase. We do not always agree with a response but for the most part it is meant to be helpful and to give you advise as someone who has experienced things. Sometimes you get a sympathetic ear and sometimes you get tough love. You'll need to take the advice that is applicable to you. The main thing is to follow the plan which has been laid out for you by you nut and surgeon and to stick with it. Good luck to you.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
