Soooooo, I'm 9 weeks post, down 39 pounds. 5 pounds away from one-der-land. (Which i am beyond happy about) I had my first family gathering with family I haven't seen since Christmas, easily 39 pounds ago. Not one of them noticed or mentioned my weight loss. They don't know I had surgery, or at least I don't think they knew. I have to admit, that was a bit of a total bummer. I have gone from a stuffed size 20 to a Baggie 16 and not a word. Ugh! Has anyone else had that happen?

Thank you! Thank you! I'm very happy with my progress. I was caught off guard. Here I thought I would be answering a bunch of questions and I got nada! Lol oh well.

We just had a get together this summer and I was down about 55 pounds then and I had a few say something and others did not say a word. I think that when they do not say anything it is not always that they did not notice, but maybe they noticed and did not say anything for several reasons; possibly jealous, don't want to say anything as if it might mean you were heavier before ;) , they just are not the complimenting type, etc. I was a little put off by it on my end, but I figure I know I lost the weight and that is the important part. People come in all styles and some just do not know how to compliment. We are happy for you though!!

Congratulations on your hard work and success! Something else to remember... some might not say anything because they don't want to make you uncomfortable either. Maybe they aren't entirely sure and don't want to create an awkward situation for either you or them. Who knows? I'm usually asked if I've lost weight after I've had a gain of a few pounds, which is totally par for the course. Memory is so fallible that you can never really tell...

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
