TaraInDC 55 Posted July 10, 2013 Okay so this is strange - About 3 months after surgery, I had a really bad chest cold and then got these crazy pains in my chest that moved from my chest to my stomach. My husband took me to the urgent care - I was sure I was having a heart attack. I couldn't breathe, all I could do was lay there and because I was panicking, I felt really light headed. Went to the doctor, she basically told me that it was probably because I had been coughing all day mixed with some acid reflux, gas and a small panic attack. I went on my merry way and then 3 months later it happened again. This time, I didn't go to the hospital and I didn't panic...as much. Now, they are happening more and more frequently. I'm quite positive it's gas pains (which I didn't have immediately following surgery, funny enough) because if I drink fast and force myself to walk around and get the gas out, I ultimately feel better. But it is seriously, some of the worst pain I have ever felt in my life. I heel over in pain, I cry, I moan, the whole 9 yards. It seems to happen mostly at night, when I'm lying down, but today it happened in the middle of the day, on a train ride (where it's probably not appropriate to cry and moan). Does anyone else have this happen or have any ideas for why this might be happening? Wondering if I should cut back on my dairy intake. Nothing is worth the pain and soreness I feel after it's passed. Am open to any suggestions anyone has.
ImLooznit 171 Posted July 11, 2013 You say "gas pain", is it focused on one side or the other? Could be your gall bladder acting up, IF you still have it. It is a very COMMON side effect of having VSG.... the pains do come and go........ and eventually they will stay around............ just for fun, or not. get you some GASX STRIPS, and take them after you eat.. and see if that helps. Best of luck to you, and keep us posted.

I had mine removed and the attacks were similar to what you just described.
