I am in nursing school and a mother of two...so I'm on free state insurance. Tenncare. It paid for my surgery (all but $1600) and now I have skin...it's not horrible but it's messing with me psychologically. My arms are really bad. My breasts are realllllly bad (breastfeeding didn't help) and my stomach is sort of bad. I would be at my goal size if I had the skin removed. Does anyone know if insurance covers any skin removal? A friend of mine had breasts that were different sizes and her insurance paid for implants! I would love a lift with silicon implants. I also have different size breasts. One is a B and one a C. It's been that way size the age of 8! I hate it!!! It's impossible finding a bra

as far as reg plastic surgery, Tummy Tuck et, i don't "think" most insurance companies cover

but.............my daughter has/had a similar experience with her breasts

little more complex, but.............

one breast is VERY small , and the other was formed "differently", kindof strange looking to tell you the truth

finally, last year at the age of 35 - went to doc and was told insurance would cover the plastics in her situation

check it out - nothing ventured nothing gained

btw - my daughter wanted another child (my 3rd grandchild ) so she didn't want her breasts "messed" around with

don't know if she'll ever have the surgery now - but you are a different matter - look into it

you could find this a very "uplifting" experience

Most insurances (inclduing Medicaid) don't cover plastic unless it's medically necessary (as in a hanging stomach that causes rashes or so big if breasts that they cause back pain.

Just for reference, about 10 yrs ago I went to the plactics dr at my local VA medical center. I had 44DDD boobs. MY back was killing me (not really cuz of my chest, other reasons, but since I really wanted a reduction, I said they killed my back). I stood there without a bra on in front of him while he "gauged" my boobs (holding them each in a hand and "weighing" them. Then said he didn't think they were big enuf for a reduction. Wow. A DDD.

Granted they eventually did go down to a 40D after losing 100 lbs. I'd still LUV to get a breast life and maybe even a little reduction, but I know my insurance would never pay for it. I went into a plastics office a few months ago to get an estimate on a TT, Lipo for my chin (I have a ball of fat there that won't ever go away) and lip for my back fat. She and my hubby agreed that my back didn't need it that bad. I came out with a $7500 price on the TT and $2800 on the chin lipo, 50% off the cheaper one if I had them done at once.

So it'll probly never get done.

TennCare is tricky to figure out. I did find this regulation stating what "TennCare Standard" covers.

If you use the "find" feature in your browser and search for surgery, you'll eventually get to the part on cosmetic surgery. Most cosmetic surgery is excluded, but there is a section (21vi) that says "reduction mammoplasty" IS covered in certain instances -- I would think you'd have to work with a cosmetic surgeon to see if you meet their very technical criteria. A breast reduction can be used to get rid of a lot of the saggy skin on your breasts and perk them up. Maybe your bariatric surgeon can help you find a good cosmetic surgeon who takes TennCare and you can work with him/her to see if you qualify?

TennCare does have lots of different programs depending on whether you have, or don't have, Medicaid, the Choices program, etc. so I can't say whether this applies to you for sure, but it's a starting point? I believe this regulation sets out the basic rules for coverage for most adults with TennCare. Good luck!
