I rarely drink. I live near a moonshine store and recently on girls night out, we sampled the shine. I was VERY buzzed!!! I've noticed I can drink very little and get pretty drunk...but then I sober up very very fast. I'm usually sober by the time my girlfriends are getting buzzed. Does the alcohol hit your bloodstream faster??? I thought it only did this to gastric bypass people

How was the hangover?

I haven't had alcohol yet.

Im a little over 7 months out and went to a concert this past weekend and really wanted to partake so my husband made me Jello shots. That way I could just have a little at a time and gauge the affect it had on me. It was the perfect solution. I had 2 and felt a little something, enough to giggle about it and about 20 minutes later I was ready for one more. I experimented and did 3 at one time and it was the perfect amount to get me dancing but not enough to act a fool lol. And I sobered up SO FAST and Im grateful to say that I did not have a hangover at all. I think Ill go the jello shot road the next time I partake. I dont want to sound like I drink often because if I drink twice a year thats a lot lol. This was my first time since being sleeved 7 months ago and I probably wont drink again until next summer. Probably :)

I have read many people say the same thing. It does affect me more now but I drink less (1-2 drinks no more than 2 times per week) and I weigh less(over 100 lbs less!). I stay buzzed just as long as I did pre-op and it doesn't affect me faster. I didn't start to drink till I was six months out.

My Doctor says no sooner than 30 days. I am 19 days and 30 cant come soon enough! I had a sip of my friend's beer last night just to see if it gave me the burps, hiccups etc. nothing happened. So we went to a movie and I ordered an icee, not knowing the damn thing was carbonated. I figured "screw it" and got about half down with a few rumbles in my tummy, but nothing to write home about!

My instructions were to avoid alcohol for one year post-surgery because it can cause an ulcer. However, I started having an occasional glass of wine, about once a week, about 1&1/2 months out. I don't notice that I get drunk or sober any differently than pre/-surgery. But I was always a cheap date! LOL!

pre-surgery weight 325; surgery date 2/28/2013; surgery weight 307; 8 weeks past-op weight 281.4; 12 weeks post-op 274; 4 month post-op 266.2

I had a few beers and a couple glasses of wine on saturday (day 26). I know I am a bad boy, but the carbonation doesnt affect me unless I drink it fast. I had a half of a beer at a pub before a soccer match, a guinness at the soccer match, then a beer and a half again at the pub after the match. That night I went to a festival at Seattle Center and I had two glasses of wine while I was there. Never really got drunk. Had a nice lil buzz to take the edge off. No stomach issues and no hangover the next day. I also periodically drank Water throughout the day.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.

Lost my Pup last month and struggled really hard for that first month. Stopped tracking intake and slid into old habits here and there. Also quit working out. Can't walk in the neighborhood because of all of the memories we shared. Losing my Pup is the most heartbreaking thing I've ever been through. My Pup was my world 💔
Talked to my doc during my one year followup and they were not worried about my current status. They know, and I know, that I will get back on track.

I'm so sorry. I lost my pup (Mr. Bitters - a chocolate Pomeranian) 2 years ago and it still makes me tear up. He was my everything - my constant companion. I understand. Do the best you can to get back on track.
