Recommended Posts

Wow MsSkinniness you look amazing!

I am looking deflated to and I am a slow loser. Hopefully my skin will bounce back.

I don't think there is really anyway around us looking deflated. So many of us have lost over a 100 lbs, what is our poor skin suppose to do.

I hate my saggy skin, but I always take comfort in the fact that I looked pretty good dressed, and no one sees me naked except me (and maybe my husband, but that is a very rare occasion that is for sure...and usually by accident!)

Ms skinniness - what can I say that has not already been said? They are all right. You look good and should be very proud of what you have accomplished. I know many, many people appreciate your expert therapeutic advice, including myself.

I absolutely look deflated. What surprises me most is how much it bothers me. Losing as much as I have it is perfectly logical that the package that once contained 300 lbs more of me, is going to be saggy. The the reality is that I went from being the fat guy to being the old guy. The additional skin at my check and abdomen I expected as a by product of the loss, but I never thought the extra skin on my face and neck would give me the aged appearance I have.

I was at the beech recently and was saddened by my new reality. I used to not take my shirt off because of my size, man boobs, ext., now I don't take it off because I look like I've melted. At times it is a struggle emotionally to remember and account for all the good that has come from this weight loss when everyday getting out of the shower I'm reminded of just where I am now at.

I have a plastics consult scheduled for Oct 8 and hope to be able to shed this last remnant of who I used to be.

Thank you everyone.......I know that I am my worst critic and when it's someone else, I believe how wonderful it is have made such accomplishmentments. But when it comes to me, I don't see it. I see myself with different lens. But i am going to be changing this due to all the reality checks I have received here. I have a lot of adjusting to do also. I am thankful for my sleeve and extremely happy that I have accomplished my weight loss. I feel so much better.

Paul you look really young to me! Where's the old? I think we both have difficulties with seeing the real picture of us. Yes we will always have loose skin unless we do plastics. and I will have a face and neck lift when I convince myself it's ok to spend the money. I keep thinking about my stomach now too......But will wait until I get more stabilized with my weight and use to doing the 5:2 program. we are all successful on here and look really hot in our clothing. Underneath may not look so hot, but it's better than having the excess fat to carry around with us. IMO......... :P

I think you look fantastic! And your mom is a doll, she looks really sweet! You know, when you let yourself feel proud of your accomplishments, and proud of the body that lets you do so much... it shows. It shows in how we dress, hold ourselves upright, how we move and how we laugh! When we can OWN our body and life, we shine!

I think the worst thing about looking deflated is also FEELING deflated! :P

I love my weight loss but sometimes like this morning the skin swishing around sucks.

My daughter drug my squishy ass out of bed this morning to go for a jog at the track.. I made it halfway around the track and had to stop because my pants were was falling off and siting askew because of the loose fat moving this way and that!

You know the day that about sent me over the bend? I was laying in bed, appreciating my smaller tummy, and that i actually have ribs and can see the and feel the bones around my chest and neck when I noticed... skin that used to be wrapped around a very fat thigh... just laying there next to me. Seriously, skin, laying on the bed next to me. I was so... revolted... it was a real emotional hit.

My perspective on all this has improved with time. I remind myself that few people my age look "perfect" and that I am actually blessed to have had such great results.

I do plan on having plastics because i am sick of that extra skin making it so I can't wear the fitted clothes that I love unless I have Shapewear (which i rarely wear). However, I don't have that revolted feeling response anymore, i have a bit more peace about it.

I think that will get better when you get to goal. On my way to goal, my stomach totally looked like the squash in Plants vs. Zombies. Totally depressed me for a while. But as I continued to lose weight, it looks a million times better. Now I just have a little extra skin around my tummy and a frowny belly button. I have extra skin on my legs, arms, and lots of other areas too. But not enough for me to want to deal with plastics.

Oh yes sharing the bed with your extra skin! Yep taking up the spot next to me like a bad unwanted ex boyfriend!

I hate shapewear I will not wear it. So yes something's I cannot wear.

I don't know that it will snap back much. As a matter of fact I think it will get worse when I get to goal.. Because unlike you I've been fat on and off my whole life, this old body is like a latex ballon that's been blown up over and over to its maximum volume.

It's not that is snapped back more, it just bounces around less without the extra fat under it. I'm a bit older than you. I didn't get fat till later, but once I went down that road in my 30s (more than 20 years ago), I never came back.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
