Finally submitted to insurance!

Recommended Posts

Hello all!!!

I'm fairly new still and I haven't posted much... I've been more snooping on the board using my phone every spare second I have soaking in everyone's knowledge.

I'm so excited that I have to share that they submitted my stuff to insurance today :-D I was told they have a fast turn around and I'll probably have approval and then a surgery date by the week!! Fingers crossed!

I'm so anxious/nervous and excited at the same time I'm not sure I'm going to sleep.< /p>

I've done the same thing. Been reading different posts for weeks. My file was submitted to the insurance company today as well. They told me it could be from 2 to 4 weeks before I hear anything. I'm really ready to get a surgery date so I hope it's sooner rather than later.

No pre-op diet yet... I will finally have a date for the surgery by the end of the week. My clinic won't even let you meet with the surgeon until you have insurance approval... I've been wanting this for a few years and to finally know when it's going to happen it going to be such a relief!

Bay girl~ I hope we both hear back before the end of the week! I will keep my fingers, arms, toes, legs, eyes, and butt cheeks crossed!! ;-)

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
