First day back to work!

Recommended Posts

Well I messed up!! 11 hours on my first day back and I do nails for a living! I guess I forgot I sit forward all day! I came home and cried from being so sore and tired!! Much shorter day tomorrow, but another long one Thursday! I haven't felt good these 2 post op weeks! Can't get all my fluids and Protein in and when I try to eat anything soft or puréed I end up feeling sick after a bite or two! Someone remind me why I did this again?

Oh honey it gets better. I lost my job the day before surgery. It was a blessing because I couldn't get out of bed for 6-7 weeks. Take it easy and do the best you can. I never got everything in either.

I'm 3 months out and 65lbs down but I sure did regret it for a long time.

Me too. Today was my first day back and I'm two weeks out. I was so nauseated this morning and tired and in pain. I had to run a couple of errands after work and I overdid it. I had to take pain medicine. It was nice to see my friends at work again though. It will get better. I think I need to force myself to work though because I am feeling like I want life to be normal again. Work is the most normal. Can get right now aside frm eating with my friends. Hang in there... We Can Do This lol

I went back to work yesterday and both days I made the mistake of sitting and leaning forward for an hour or so while I talked with a patient, and I could barely stand up afterwards. My belly was so sore. So I can't imagine doing that for 11 hours!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
