Is there anyone out there that wishes they would have went with a different type of weight loss surgery or not have gotten it done at all? I'm new to all this but from most of the comments I have read most people seem to be doing well and glad they chose the sleeve.

I am almost 7 weeks post op, 46lbs down and very happy with my decision. The first few days I was MISERABLE! I thought I ruined my life and even now some days are hard but nothing worth it ever easy!

I am having my surgery in two weeks and am getting a bit nervous. I am 100% sure of my decision, but I guess it is the fear of the unknown. How much pain will I be in, will I regret my decision, will something go wrong. After thinking about all of this I still think go for it. I so hope that it turns out the way I am hoping it will - with no complications. I know my life will change drastically on July 25th and I am hoping I am strong enough to deal with all that is coming my way. But reading everyone's posts does make it easier. I havent seen anyone who said that they regretted their decision and I hope a couple of weeks from now, I too, will be writing how happy I am with my decision. Any helpful hints would be appreciated.

I think the sleeve was the best thing I could have done.very easy surgery stayed in the hospital for two days after the surgery due to me sleeping and not trying to take fluids. Third day came home with no problem, off all pain meds the fourth day. It has been very easy I'm in my third week post op. have not had any issue with vomiting or nausea. Walking 2 1/2 miles every morning . The only issue I have is remembering to eat.

Lapband wasn't an option and gastric bypass looked way too complex and I didn't want to deal with malabsorption issues. Sleeve was the only way to go for me and I'd do it again in a heartbeat INCLUDING the two-week preop liquid only diet.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
