Welcome to VST BB. There are lots of answers to your question here. I am not sure how to answer your question for it appears that per insurance type your steps could be different. I am having my surgery next month. I am a military wife and I did not go through our insurance Tricare. I am having my procedure done at a military treatment facility @ no direct cost to me. In general you must have blood work done as well see a few other docs, speak with a nutritionist , as well speak with a psych ...perhaps it may not be in that order. Good luck!!

Thankz opal_m.! Yes, I'm so, excited about the sleeve.. Me and my fiancé went 2 a seminar and since my fiancé is an in shape muscle man he told me to just keep working out. But, after I had our son 2years ago the weight just keep adding on instead of coming off. Ughh so we both decided to go with the sleeve.! But, I'm just in patient. Smh.! I start my college classes aug 28 I was praying I could get it done b4 then but, I guess the weight is longer than that. Sad sad sad.. Lol! I have keystone HPE. Good luck on ur surgery hon. Keep me informed

Welcome BB! If you are going through your insurance, find out what they cover and their requirements.....everything varies from policy to policy.....Some require 6 months of visits with a nutritionist/dietitian.......others require 3......plus a lot of other tests and doctors appointments......fun stuff LOL If all goes well, I should have surgery in 4 months from that initial informational session. Good luck!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
