Hello

I just posted something about this but the more i do research, the more I am freaking out...I meat my surgeon today. I am 1.5 months out. He said that he used a 60 bougie on me, that my stomach shoul hold 9-10 oz and that he took off 75% of my stomach. the thing is, people keep telling me that because my sleeve is ''bigger'' i will regain a lot of weight 3-5 years out :( i cant beleive this. This cant be right. People say they used 60 bougies back in 2000...wtf.

i am so sad and confused.

My surgeon is the head of a renowned hospital in my city (canada) and he has done tons of sleeves!

please help me :(

Their experience doesn't define yours. It is up to all of us to maintain a healthy body with nutrition and exercise. Our sleeves are only a tool to help us get there. They may not have used it wisely. Best wishes :)

Hi.. I'm just starting my process on trying 2 get approved for the sleeve.., but, seems 2 me that others have experienced different reactions to the surgery.? I would talk 2 ur Dr. If I were you. But, try 2 stay healthy by excercising and eating right. So, the pounds won't come back. Good luck

The sleeve is just a tool... and as BB stated... its all about utilizing the tool to its fullest... eating RIGHT and MOVING DAILY... you will lose it... and hopefully keep it off...I'm 7 mths out... and am losing slowly... but I am NOT gaining... the weight IS coming off... and I plan for it to stay off for good...

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
