I too am using Dr. Watkins!

Finally I meet someone using Dr Watkins. How far along in the process are you? What made you decide to use him? I just liked him from the seminar and then when I met him at my initial appointment.

Buckeye: I saw one of their billboards driving home from work. So I did an online seminar to learn more and went and met him. I liked him right from the get go to be honest. I liked how he took enough time to answer all of my questions. I also liked how he described is process to prevent leaks which I knew was the most likely complication, if any, were to occur.

Hey, I too is a Dr . Watkins patient. This is so exciting. I'm scheduled for surgery 8/5. Sounds like everyone here has already been sleeved. Curious to know how is everything going. Things are really moving fast for me and really don't have much support right now. I think when the actual surgery take place things will become surreal for them. I hope my family really steps up. Anywho hope to hear from someone soon.

I just finished my 4th day of my pre-op diet. Woo Hoo!! Not as bad as I thought it would be. Just making sure to hit my mark for calories and Protein. I had my pre surgery physical this past Friday and no problems. I go on Monday for my pre- op visit with Dr Watkins surgical nurse. Can't wait cause it's gonna be great.

Wondering if you have kids and how hard is it to cook and can't eat what you cook. Maybe I'll just cook all the foods i don't like. Lol.

Hey determined, I'm from Dayton.

Im having surgery on July 30 and i have people in my house that are going thru the process with me in order to learn how to support me but i also have someone who prepares my meals for me that sometimes tries to sabotage my efforts but that's when my real supporters step in and speak up. I'm disabled with mobility issues so it's very hard for me to stand and walk. My niece and nephew eat what i eat. They want to be healthy so they are starting now so that they dont become like me. I think one person in a household making changes is a recipe for failure especially if the household is on a limited income. If everyone makes the switch to a healthier lifestyle it's easier because everyone is supportive of one another and you don't have to buy different meals for everyone. Chances are if it's in the house you're going to eat it so just don't purchase anything unless it's healthy. I hope this helps a little.

Thx Ms.Geri my teenage daughter also is planning to get sleeved 6 months from now . However I start my pre-op liquid diet Monday and still have to cook for my family. I love to cook so this is going to be challenging. My teen can't cook because she works and go to school and my husband has been banned from the kitchen since he once tried to cook me dinner for one of our anniversaries by putting a bag full of frozen chicken qtr in the oven, stuck together and all sprinkled with seasoning salt, hot sauce and onions. LOL, gotta love him and it is out of the question for my toddler, although she likes to help in her play kitchen :)

However, thx so much for your insight. I wish you the best of luck on this long journey of weight lost and good health.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
