cmunne 24 Posted July 9, 2013 How many calories a day are we supposed to be having a day? I am one month out (and down 45 pounds!!) but all my doc says is be sure to "under-eat". Any ideas? Sent from my iPhone using VST
SerendipityHappens 1,594 Posted July 9, 2013 That really varies based on doctor and your weight and activity level. Personally I'm on 800-1050 and have been since about 6 weeks out. I know some who are further out than me and still on 600 calories a day and others who are at 1500 after one month! When you still have a lot to lose, you can afford to eat less since your body knows it's fat and has an easy time converting the fat since there is sooooo much to choose from.. as you get closer to your goal weight you'll need to increase your calories in order to keep your body properly fueled and avoid burning muscle due to too severe of a calorie deficit. LiggleLiggle 84 Posted July 9, 2013 I was on 600-800 but that wasn't enough to keep my body out of starvation mode so I am up to 800-1000 and losing slowly but losing:)
Ballermom 803 Posted July 9, 2013 Sound you are doing an Awesome Job! Woohoo I get between 800-1000 calories I'm 4.5 months out. Congrats
cmunne 24 Posted July 10, 2013 Thanks for all the responses..... Sounds like I am just about where you guys are at about 800- 900 calories a day. My doc says the most important thing at this point is that if I am not hungry, don't eat!! Example, just because its dinner time, you don't have to eat then. FRED1977 186 Posted September 3, 2013 I'm not getting that many calories in, so I know I need to eat more.
J.Diesel 220 Posted September 25, 2013 I'm at <800 a day. Feels right for me right now. It's was hard to understand you're not hungry, but you mind tells you it's lunch time and you need to eat. That isn't the case. Once you get passed this it gets easier.
