Don't over do it! Rest when you need to,drink that ounce of Fluid every ten minute for ten hours of the day to get your 60 oz in ,drink your Protein and have lots of Popsicles and broth for variety! My doc routinely prescribes a small rx of Ativan for anxiety and pain management. I found taking one when I felt stressed helped my pain management better than an actual pain rx. You'll do great!

Gurgles and gas! If it hasn't happened yet, you might get some pretty bad gas pain. I was fine the day after surgery until about 4:30pm when I felt absolutely terrible because of the gas trying to find an escape route! The good thing is that it only lasted for a few hours and that was it for me.

You will be tired, and that is totally normal. In addition to the liquids, just try to get up and walk a little every hour or so. It will help the gas move along.

Good luck!

Take some of your pain medicine in your iv before they release you. Take a pillow to hold you stomach in place for the drive home. Buy some gas x strips, those will help a lot.

I had my sleeve done yesterday as well. I was told that I can have Popsicles, Jello and broth in addition to my normal liquids. My pain levels are subsiding but the gas pain is awful!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
