has anyone ever tried the drug Qsymia? I am 3 weeks post op and was on this medication for two months prior to surgery. My surgeon said it was up to me if I wanted to continue taking it post op. I haven't thus far but i am considering it. Anyone else take weight loss drugs like qsymia post op?

This is an excellent topic!! Earlier this year I had weight loss revision-gstuc bypass reviison and only lost like 10 pounds !!!! What ??????? My first surgery in 2010 I lost like 120lbs. I was 333 the day of surgery. A year later I was 243. Ii am now on Qsymia and after 30 days on it I have lost 15 pounds and went from 233 to 218. I hope and pray that I can keep this up until I am at least 150lbs,then I will be satisfied. Maybe I can shrink my pouch and better control my weight because of the weight loss surgery tool. I will try and keep everyone posted. I wished that others would also share their experiences with this aas well. I wished that I had found doctors who would have allowed me to immediately get on the weight loss pills post op and this weight would have been off a long time ago. But anyway, I am doing what I can right now so...if nothing else, I will go and have another surgery......

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
